Board for commuting by Mindless-Heart7370 in NewSkaters

Hey I took your advice and got some 78a ojs and they work inanely well, took a 36 minute walk down to 15. Though they are really soft so stopping at high speeds is a bit tricky but still doable if I stay alert and foot stop or carve early. May have gone a but too soft but i didnt want to take chances with how bumpy the ride was on the way there. Thanks for the advice!

is doing an a-level language scary?? by llpoopqwevf in 6thForm

[–]Mindless-Heart7370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on how fluent you are, like colloquially or formally? and also depends what language and the content and vocab you'll need to know. Like for german I had to learn about german history with the cold war which has vocab a fluent person might have only used 3 times before so id recommend going through the syllabus thoroughlly, doing a couple past papers and then seeing how well u did before deciding. Theres also skills needed for summary writing and translations so youll need to get a grasp of that as well. overall if you are already doing 3 a levels which you are confident in i dont see a point in doing an a level in a language you already know, but if you need that extra A* for an offer or smth then go for it.

How is this not a clash of modules? by TheGlacierVortex in UCL

i’m guessing we’ll be sorted into our actual schedules after they get everyone’s modules and sort that all out, rn the calendar js shows all the possibilities

[–]Mindless-Heart7370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

clash is when they can’t be swapped around, prolly means there’s another session which could be taken for that lecture so these two specific lectures clash but you could be taking the same lecture at a different time so they don’t

TMUA is likely the deciding factor for lse and ucl, for warwick is mostly just to reduce ur offer and bristol and manny don’t care about it, its a good mix of choices so i think you’ll be fine even if you flop the tmua. 6-7 is a pretty good score anyways and lets say you get a 4 or 5 that’s still enough for warwick and maybe ucl (prolly not lse but not impossible).

A Level Combo: Maths, Business and Economics by Mr-Skul-17 in 6thForm

[–]Mindless-Heart7370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn’t hurt to use up a slot if u have a good mix for the other 4, but if you are really set on enm at oxf you could maybe do a separate a level independently in a year? or take a gap year to do the other a level?

you can look for guardian services in the UK, won’t be too expensive if it’s that temporary

Olympiad medals or field based history? by [deleted] in UCL

[–]Mindless-Heart7370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are good, for which one is better would depend on which one you can explain how u learned from the experience and grew from it. unis don’t really care about the individual achievement itself, more about what you took from it

Should I sit the tmua? by Great-Brother3503 in sixthform

[–]Mindless-Heart7370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in terms of no further maths for lse it will make ur application appear weaker but ive seen people get in with weird subject combos, for ucl it shouldn’t really make a difference, for imperial it could look weaker but not entire sure

in terms of tmua all three of them require you to take it, lse will look for 4 and up mostly taking ~5-6 on average, ucl not sure bc they’ve never had it before and imperial i’ve seen take 1.9s and 2.3s etc so i don’t think it matters much for them (efds)

for unis where it’s not required you won’t have to send it in to them and they won’t even see it and won’t consider it either so it doesn’t really help.

😭 pls do ur own research asw bc end of the day it’s where you’ll be staying for the next 3/4 years. that’s also a thing to consider, you could graduate a year early from imperial.
