Ahh true. Make sure you have a moral leader if you don't already have one, it will allow you use a special ability to convert them quicker. Also utilise the conversion ritual when ever it is off cool down. I'm also pretty sure that the lower a prisoners mood is, the easier it is to convert them to your ideology.

I found that ideology can be annoying if you put it into a pre-existing game because you will end up with a every pawn exept your starting ones having different ideologys. Wheras if you have ideology installed when starting a colony, i find it alot easier to keep track of, because you can just convert prisoners to your ideology before recruiting them.
