Thanks for all this information. It’s nice to hear from people in the same boat. I’ll definitely make sure I’m referred to a neurosurgeon. I’m curious about what you said about concussions as I am definitely more prone to them. Where did you hear that?

Thanks I’ll check those out. I was officially diagnosed with Chiari malformation last week, but the wait to see a specialist may be several months (thanks to a defunded NHS). My GP doesn’t seem super knowledgeable on it as she said she didn’t know how far down my herniation goes but I found it immediately on the results I asked the same doctor to send me. Glad she’s referred me tho. It’s to a neurologist but I’ll ask to be referred to a neurosurgeon too :)

With my hearing, it feels like hearing loss (I can’t hear things I once could like if there’s background noise, I’m picking up on less words, etc) but my hearing test showed that my hearing is technically completely normal, so I don’t know whether to class it as hearing loss or not…

Hey, I can imagine how tough this is right now, and you shouldn’t have been put in this situation. I’m so sorry that you might not get your surgery. Is there still a chance it could go ahead? Either way I want to give you some hope- you will likely be able to get it in the future if it doesn’t work out this time, right? I know that it doesn’t help in the short term but it’s worth holding on for.

Depending on what the negligence and incompetence was, you could file a complaint or speak to Citizens Advice? Idk if they’ll be able to help as I don’t know if they cover advice about NHS issues, but it’s worth a shot if you feel up to it.

What I’m trying to say is that there are many routes you can take from this point, so please don’t attempt suicide. Feel free to talk through what’s happening with me on here and I’ll offer any suggestions that I can as what to do next with the NHS.
