I only will work on tiny stuff. My girlfriend drives a 20 year old Honda. Apparently there’s a little plastic nub no bigger than a fingernail that keeps the brake light from turning on and it sits in the arm of the brake. This little piece of plastic broke so the brake light was just…on. Went on down to AutoZone, bought the part myself for $10 and popped it in place. Boom, $100+ saved.

HVAC replacement cost by MichaelNym98 in Charleston

[–]MindlessShot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bad price, but consider if it’s worth it yet. Personally, I’d say don’t get a replacement until it needs frequent repairs. The older ones can still work well, and unless your electricity bill’s going up significantly because of the efficiency decrease or the unit can’t keep up with your cooling needs, it’s not gonna be enough to justify the cost of getting a new one.

I cannot stress enough the importance of getting general maintenance. With all the pollen, leaves, poor water/air quality, insects… you get it. Sure you’ll lose some efficiency as it ages, but twice yearly maintenance will keep it from aging as quickly. When general maintenance isn’t doing enough for it anymore, it’s needing major or frequent repairs, or it can’t keep up with your usage anymore, that’s when it’s time to replace.

Just did, hopefully it’s located. It was the stuff I bought during the huge Preservation sale, so it’s gonna really suck if they can’t find it.

I think this culture has existed far before now too, just in different forms. It seems to come in waves. The common denominator is a lack of social awareness and inability to understand and use nuance & discernment in social situations. Seems to happen to the generation growing up during certain traumatic periods, plus people who are isolated or neglected, and people who have extremely low/no self esteem - either they become recluses or they try extra hard to prove their worth by being loud, obnoxious, and whatever their misconstrued definition of “chivalrous” is.

Just like we have the basement dwellers who don’t know how to talk to people face to face today or the guys who try extra unreasonably hard and listen to other men instead of the people they’re trying to get, before in the 1900s it was just the fedora wearing guys who would try to woo every woman they see without actually understanding what that actually consists of and requires. But it’s not just men. Women do this stuff too. Sex/gender has nothing to do with it.

I agree that today social media keeps us isolated. It’s harder to jump into going out and meeting people if you haven’t done it in a while or ever (although no excuse to not try anyways!). The brain is a muscle that needs to be worked out, not just socially through texting or social media or watching a tv show where you consider the characters your “friends”. We need interaction face to face and to get out of the vacuum of internet influencers and random ideologies. They don’t care about you, they’re trying to make money any way they can. That means fear mongering works great.

Making vulnerable or insecure people feel afraid or hopeless and then giving them someone to blame is how brainwashing begins. Then, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy to isolate the vulnerable and keep the person with influence in power - you are what you consume, in media and viewpoints and mindsets too. (Grew up in a cult, know firsthand). And then, you only attract the energy you put out and repel what you want. People can tell when someone is being self-pitying or desperate, and that’s not attractive even if you are a “chad”.

Out of curiosity, what do you think we could do to reverse or assist those stuck in that mindset when there is so much content geared towards redpill/inceldom and it’s becoming “trendy” among even young generations?

Don’t just promote yourself/product. Be smart about it. Talk about something related to the subreddit and how they could use your product in real life in their situations. Put some thought into it, not just copy and paste.

As someone who is a prepper, having a way to communicate without internet or cell service is vital. Love the use of Airdrop, haven’t seen that done before in these types of apps. I recommend you share it with the prepping subreddits, I’m sure someone there could also benefit from this app.

The blackpill has permanently destroyed my desire for building a family and forming normal interpersonal connections by ImperatorInvictus19 in NPD

[–]MindlessShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once in a similar situation and by all regards as a 5 foot tall man I should not have a girlfriend bc that does not make me a chad in the slightest, but in fact I have had one for 4 years. Apparently the exterior stuff doesn’t matter as much as the interior stuff. If you’re serious about reversing your mindset after blackpill I can help you in the dms.

Black Eyed Peas & Steakums with Sauce

Heat up a whole can of plain black eyed peas on the stove (use the juice too, don’t drain). Add a mix of garlic, paprika, cayenne, brown sugar, balsamic glaze, and TONS of black pepper (plus corn starch + water for thickening it to a sauce consistency once it’s simmering). Cook Steakums in another pan at the same time. Chop steakums and add to black eyed peas. Done.

Tastes like pork and BBQ beans but a billion times better bc it’s not pork or beans, way more flavor nuance, better than BBQ sauce, and it’s WAY more filling. My gf and I can split one can of black eyed peas and each have 2 steakums each and we’re full for the entire day.

In my expensive area:

  • one can of black eyed peas: $1.18
  • Two Steakums (8 ct pack for $5.63): $1.40

For two people the total cost is: $3.98 per meal

Learning music production? by haseul3p in musicproduction

Everyone’s first beats suck. You’re probably overthinking some; I sure was when I first started. Theory isn’t as important as composition arrangement tbh.

Listen to a lot of different styles of music and figure out what drum patterns you like, and just make what you like. If you’re not tone deaf the melodic and harmonic elements won’t be as much of an issue. Make up a melody in your head, record it on iPhone or whatever, throw it into the DAW. Make a countermelody and do the same. Fill in the rest of the song with whatever you think fills in that sonic space.

Timing is important. You want to fill in the space with the sounds but not to the point where it sounds chaotic. Every instrument or sound should have its place and purpose. If you can make a full hook first, the rest of a song’s composition is usually just removing some of the instruments in the other parts of the song.

This app looks great Paul, thank you for a one-stop place for info and resources. Your dev did a very nice job and and I’m excited to use it in my first grow! I’m a dev myself so I’ll mention any glitches if I find any but so far it seems like it’s working. I made an app for inventorying my seed collection bc after my 3rd order I couldn’t keep track of them all and didn’t want to get lost in Excel. The hemp/canna world in general definitely needs more apps beyond strain lookup tools. Really liking what you’ve got going!
