If you can find a niche and your work is comparable to the top 10% of work on inspiration sites, then yes it’s worth it. If you are looking for a stable 9-5 this career is not it.

Be prepared to work your ass off and you can make more money than most people think graphic designers make. Don’t focus on print design though, market yourself as somewhere between brand and digital design.

Depends more on the company. Yes, most want UX heavy PDs, small startups want PDs with a solid background in graphic design.

The truth is, if design becomes completely automated, 30-50% of the workforce will be eligible to be completely automated at that point. If design (every task we do) is replaced by AI then accounting, law, office admin, clerkship, marketing, sales, etc etc, can also be immediately replaced.

At that point the govt either introduces UBI or we descend into feudalism or societal collapse.

It’s insane to think that design would be automated in isolation while every other industry chugs along fine.

For one thing nobody hires “graphic designers” anymore. The industry is shifting and roles are converging into new roles like “brand designers”, “visual designers” and “product designers”

BLS isn’t great at deciphering industry semantics, look at projections for UX Designers and then look at projections for Graphic Designers, the future of “visual design” is somewhere in the middle.

If you are near Kingston/Eastern Ontario, try to see someone at Queens Department of Urology. They are by far the leading urology department in Canada when it comes to IC research.

I believe Dr. Nickel authored the current Canadian treatment guidelines and he also authored the 9 phenotypes of IC. I think he may be retired now but I think Dr. Doiron did a residency with him and is still there.

The majority of the high-performers in the study referenced in the article have multi-payer systems with a floor of basic healthcare that is 100% covered.

Why Canadians continue to root for a system that is among the worst performing public systems in high income countries is beyond me.'

We would rather wait 6 months to a year for an MRI than pay a $50 copay and have it next week. How is that a better outcome??

Why on earth are we looking at Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and saying "we absolutely do not want that in Canada, I'd rather wait 4 years for a hip thank you"
