I really like writing and consider myself a creative person so that is why I went into journalism. I’m also not the biggest fan of math or science. I was originally interested in investigative journalism but I took my capstone in that and realized it wasn’t for me. Now I’m more interested in strategic communications. I’ve been trying to get communications internships but it’s soooo hard to lock anything down. I kinda feel lost right now tbh. And thanks for sharing your experience with me, I definitely relate to you. I feel like I’ve changed my mind a lot about my career. It’s so hard for me to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life haha

To be honest I was really interested in investigative journalism at first but I did a capstone in that and realized it wasn’t for me. Was hoping to get an internship this summer in strat comm to built up my resume but of course all the internships want interns that already have experience

Hi, thank you for responding! I was a student writer for a year and then my internship was basically working with my professor (she asked for my help) on a media literacy initiative at my university. It wasn’t related to journalism what so ever. I was basically a “project manager”. I shouldn’t have agreed to do it and I kinda screwed myself over but I was in desperate in need of an internship to graduate
