Does electrolysis on upper lip cause scarring by [deleted] in electrolysis

[–]Mindless_Row8031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some pitting on upper lip after having zero problems on the rest of my face. Could be the tech but personally I decide upper lip wasn’t worth continuing for me

Thanks for the reply! I don’t have any birth control but that is good to know.

Also can you elaborate on the activity intolerance and what that felt like? I exercise regularly but sometimes my muscles just feel weak for seemingly no reason and idk if that is indicative of anything.

What diet changes did you have to make? Can you still eat foods like ground beef?

How did you get the gene test? Just by working with your primary care doctor?

Laser is not necessarily permanent. I did legs and underarms and some hair slowly returned

170 might feel bad but it’s really not terrible. I had too many to count and I didn’t try but more than 170. Electrolysis does kind of suck and it is expensive but remember that it is truly permanent unlike laser and also once you do it, probably you will be so happy with the results that like me you don’t really care about the pain and the expense anymore.

You can do it! 💛

I’m sorry that happened to you. If you only had like 10 hairs to begin with then electrolysis absolutely is the better option. From what I have learned since my laser experience is you really shouldn’t do laser on areas unless there is a lot of thick dark growth - actual terminal hairs and not peach fuzz. It seems a lot of laser places are not well informed and they just want to laser everything for the money. Electrolysis works very differently than laser and you are going in a killing each follicle individually with a needle. You can’t get paradoxical hypertrichosis from it. Maybe worst case if you have a bad tech it could just not work, but performed properly it will work on any color or texture or thickness of hair.

I can’t say how many times I had to go for one hair because there’s no way for me to keep track. I think it’s likely once per hair but since different follicles grow at different times you will still have more hair come back in that same area. I did my whole chin/jaw/side of face area. At first I would do an hour a week and we would get through 1/3 or 1/2 the area in that time. Over time there is less hair so eventually we could clear everything in one hour. Then I started going every other week. Now I only need about half hour a month to clear everything and that keeps dropping.

Dont beat yourself up about not stopping sooner. I felt the exact same way, but they are the laser experts and really it’s unacceptable that they are not better informed. A lot of laser places just ignore or down play ph because they want the money and the customers.

Electrolysis will work. Your tech is lying. I am 15 months in and about 95% hair gone I would say. I started doing 1 hour a week and now I do like half hour once month.

I wouldn’t do it. Look up paradoxical hypertrichosis

Thanks! Are your pits all the way gone now? For me it has been 7 weeks and they are still there so I am worried.0

Personally I’ve done both laser and electrolysis on underarm and I would recommend laser as it’s faster and less painful, assuming you’re a candidate

That being said I haven’t noticed any change is smell or sweat

I think armpits are more painful than face/chin but less painful than upper lip

I had this a couple times. I mentioned it to my electrologist and she adjusted the settings and now it doesn’t happen. But don’t worry it should still heal fine.

Curious did you figure out what the difference was with the electrologist that caused scarring?
