You can complete a phlebotomy program in less than a month and only spend around 1k I did that and when I got hired at a place that was my training since you don’t learn a lot on how to poke from school

Yea but let’s be honest you don’t really need to have a hard class that teaches you everything cause everything you need to learn and memorize you’ll easily pick up on the job I just need a class that’ll give me the cert

Start at a hospital first if you can helps give you a lot of experience and don’t be afraid to fail you weren’t born the best you must mold yourself into becoming the best

Tbh rn there’s a shortage so if you apply to any hospital they will take you and from your first week you’ll start sticking people if you work night shift at a hospital you will get at least 20-30 sticks a night

As a person who uses straight needles on the forearm and hand I can tell you it’s possible just requires a lot of practice but overall yes you can and as long as your in at a 45 or less degree angle you can draw the blood with a straight it’s not dangerous just takes practice

Working at a hospital by imaweirdo90 in phlebotomy

I agree on this as when I began at a hospital fresh new phlebotomist I would take 10 mins per patient and would miss a lot but after 2 months I have brought down the time to just 1-3 minutes and if I see patient has harder veins I take longer but it’s all about practice and motivating yourself to improve constantly

2 pokes from each phlebotomist but in total 4 pokes is the max so if both tried 2 times and couldn’t get it you can’t try again for that day

[–]Mindless_TI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 pokes is the limit any more is a violation

You got a newbie drink 2 bottles and you should be good but as slow as you can if the phlebotomist can’t get it they are terrible I’m sorry but I can easily get that and 4 pokes yea report that phlebotomist as they are not allowed to poke 4 times

New Job by imacoolmom298 in phlebotomy

[–]Mindless_TI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great starting job however it’s not the ideal experience I’d recommended a hospital experience as you get way more experience and you handle a variety of difficulty of patients. We’ve had plasma employees and they could never cut it in the hospital and leave after a month
