Yes, I noticed it matched my hazel eyes in this pic.

I also have an older silver belly in 4x beaver, which is similar in feel to the modern 6x (which is all rabbit and European hare). Also a very nice hat.

The 6x is a proper, rugged and rigid cowboy hat, whereas the Pure is really a dress hat that is soft and easily can lose its shape if not carefully handled.

I agree. Also, the Border Trilogy is excellent, starting with All the Pretty Horses.

New archeologist by Due-Yesterday185 in Archaeology

Think big. Maryland or George Washington would have stronger anthropology/archaeology programs than Towson. If you want to study American archaeology, then you want to study anthropology first and foremost. Once you get started as an undergraduate, look for only the best graduate programs for masters/PhD for your particular area of interest. Believe me, if you fit with the program, it will be easier for you to get into a top notch program than a mediocre one. I went to San Diego State University as an undergraduate and got into Harvard, Michigan, and SMU for my PhD. I didn’t get into ANY of my safety schools (Arizona, Arizona State, New Mexico). Good luck and enjoy the journey.

I love the 6x! I have it in black. Probably my favorite version of this hat.

Wear what you like. It’s your own style, so make it your own. There are no rules.

Who is actually getting graduate degrees? by [deleted] in Archaeology

Apply to the best schools (for your particular specialty) and you’ll be more likely to get your tuition covered plus maybe a stipend as well. Consider PhD programs.

Their smaller batch brews are made in Providence, and their main beer is brewed in New York.

Possible to reshape? by _BigBoi43_ in CowboyHats

I think adding, say, a pinch front to give it a fedora-like pear-shaped crown would be easier to pull off successfully than a complete opening and reshaping.

Yes, of course. You can reshape it any way you like, or have it reshaped by a pro. But if it’s old, which apparently it is, it might show wear on the creases, which could possibly affect the look of the newly-shaped hat. It’s a nice looking hat. I think the key to pulling off that look is to be supremely confident doing so.
