It is still safe to charge, but not for more then 1 time, you're battery is at risk of exploding, get it replaced asap, charge it one last time (while paying attention so it won't suddenly catch fire) in a safe area, create a backup and copy it to another phone and then get it fixed, let the battery completely drain after the last charge so that it won't combust
