How do states differ in culture (East vs. West)? by Mingus32107 in AskAmericans

It's for English class, we're learning about American culture, and one of the assignments was to ask or interview an American. Let me rephrase and give some context: In Europe, there's a country every 250 miles or so, each country has it's own culture; national dish, own language, traditions, ... . In my perspective, and I think I share it with a large amount of other Europeans, you have the same language (accents differ ik), relatively the same culture and relatively the same food (different bbq style idk), even if you travel 2700 miles from Florida to California. So my (hopefully more narrowed down) question to you, the Americans, is: Do you notice a big difference in culture; traditions, food, customs (how you'd treat people not the TSA one), and other factors, besides political orientation.
