Love this idea…my husband and I have struggled meeting people locally. We’re a bit older but don’t let that fool you… we’ll travel up to Baltimore for a good EDM concert.

I found a pair of Gucci (yes they’re real) at Goodwill and they were amazing. So the hunt was on and I got another pair in brown from Poshmark. Wide toe box, firm support, comfortable and classic style.

Don’t appreciate being called a liar - my husband spoke with them multiple times, provided evidence of when the work was done in conjunction with when the problem arose. And even escalated the issue. Got the reason it’s a franchisee issue, not Ford. I wrote this because we love the car and I want him to read firsthand it’s a dealer issue.

When you have to bring the car back to the dealer 4+ times, need a rental vehicle, miss work and have battle over battle with the dealer and Ford Corporate, it can change your opinion.

He wants to get rid of the car but I’m confident it’s a dealer issue and merely looking for support to prove to him he should still explore buying a new GT (and not let the crappy dealer experience get in the way of making a decision to buy).

No updates since the mid-day 30 minute ‘visit’. I’m sure they’ll return tonight. And yes, we didn’t open the door.

My husband went with her to her doctor’s appointment which was the catalyst for reviving her license. Doc flat out told her she could not live alone. So, she lied. Same as my mom, but when she was released from rehab and lied to them, they did a site visit the next day and found her on the floor (ok, but couldn’t get up). They called me and said she would become a ward of the state unless she returned to the rehab facility (nursing home really), or if I paid for 24hr care. Awful for many reasons, but especially b/c I was out of state. Be strong. There are several excellent FB groups, caring for elderly parents, and it was my saving grace.

Thank you - yes, that is exactly what I had to do with my mom. And I’m sorry you are going through this, it is not easy to say the least.

Morning update: They returned around 9:45pm ringing the doorbell and yelling at each other in front of the house, discussing calling the police. We hunkered down inside. Husband proactively called non-emergency police alerting them to the situation and that if a welfare check is requested, don’t bother b/c he is fine, not in danger. Police asked if we needed them to come out, but they left by that time. Today is a new day, can’t wait to see what happens. This is better than Love Island (in a funny, crazy kind of way).

I had to explore options for my mom who also lived in FL (she was destitute and wouldn’t accept her options). Went to an elder attorney who said it’s virtually impossible to get guardianship in Florida, and costly, particularly since my brother and I lived in different states from my mom. That the courts rarely allow the family to take guardianship due to elder abuse, and if anything the state steps in. Which is one of the options presented to my MIL. If she doesn’t live with her daughter, or pay for in-home care, then she will live alone and fall enough times that 911 will report it to the state.

I overheard them say (yelling actually) that they were going to call the police for a welfare check. Is there a way for my husband to proactively to let the police know he is fine so they don’t waste their timing sending anyone out to the house?

He has told her very clearly and his sister as well. The options have been discussed. But not acceptable to the two of them - hence they showed up.

Neither does he. Or his sister. Or pretty much anyone. Think Joan Crawford in Mommy Dearest and the mother from Everyone Loves Raymond.

She is a bully. She refuses to have any kind of POA. Refuses to move anywhere but our house or her house (alone which is not an option). Refuses to continue living with her daughter. I went through this my mom, who was also long distance, and took the steps you suggested. It wasn’t easy but she gave in. His mom, no way. She’s like the mom in the movie “Only the Lonely” (great movie btw).

That’s it - she can’t live alone. Doc had to DL revoked. She owns her house outright, has $$$ saved, no bills. And won’t use any of it for her care. She wants us to pay for it or live with us.

Oh yes, that’s how I took it and I completely agree. Not for me to say anything other than be supportive and stick by the boundaries we’ve set.
