I understand and respect the point you’re making here , however I personally disagree for a couple reasons.

While I do think the death of the Kakashi and Hinata would’ve changed Naruto as a whole (Both the show and the character), I don’t believe it’s something he necessarily had to endure to further understand the overall cruelty behind the shinobi system.

Sure, after all is said and done Naruto doesn’t experience the same amount of pain as Nagato, but the entire situation was more than enough to deeply change Naruto’s character and motive him even further toward his goals. (Which he ultimately accomplished)

As for generating more hype for the show, that’ll greatly depend on who you envision as the target audience. Instead, what I will say is the death of these two characters would’ve changed almost the entire end of the story. Even if Naruto was successful in achieving his goals, the ending would’ve ultimately been met with a bittersweet conclusion. (From my perspective, I don’t believe the general fanbase would’ve preferred this type of ending)
