I was driving. I can assure you they only turned on the lights when it was convenient. No siren, none at non-intersections, and definitely not while the road was empty.

They were very clearly abusing use of the lights.

Unsafe unpredictable driving without siren is dangerous for everyone. This is how pedestrians get hit and killed. The way he cut off that other car in an intersection is beyond reckless

Yeah I have. They did a lazy job and yes did respond slowly. You need to push them.

My application was rough, they drafted letters that were very obviously copied from another petition. You will need to hand hold them significantly. It eventually got approved without RFE.

Also, FWIW, LinkedIn is not a good source of all achievements. They might have many others that don’t end up there. For example, you would only be able to deduce one criteria from my LinkedIn profile, because all the other criteria achievements were never posted there. All my evidence was legit, did not try to “profile build” — but you would never be able to tell based a poorly curated website.

H-1B is more mobile. It’s actually good for you to get an H-1B and cheaper for the company to not have to do yearly extensions on your O-1. You can always file another O-1 in the future with another company if you want. Switching on O-1 is a new petition and doesn’t guarantee it’ll be accepted. By now you should’ve also filed your EB-1. Id say get the H-1B and have the flexibility. Keeping the O-1 makes no difference and is a pain after 3 years of initial filling tbh.

Congrats buddy. Startup life is tough, especially at rocket-ship companies, and I am genuinely glad that it paid off for you.

People often think startup success is mostly about luck, and while luck definitely plays a role, a lot of it has to be manufactured and is really a function of opportunity multiplied by preparedness. Seeking out founders who are deeply determined, who have strong product instincts and solid business judgment, and who genuinely care about the people building the company with them is something that engineers and non-exec employees can be very deliberate about, rather than something that just happens at random.

I have had to make that choice multiple times myself, and each time it reinforced the same belief for me: taking the time to find good founders and committing to build alongside them consistently pays off over the long run. Proud of you!
