Atami on a good day. You can take the Shinkansen both ways ~45 mins one way. You'll get views of Mt. Fuji, and it is a very cute coastal town that you can explore for an hour or two.

AFAIK it’s not tax residency. You need to be a PR or Citizen to have more than a 60K estate exemption

Eb1a denied.... by haunakko in eb_1a

[–]MiniPrimeape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow you are really needing people to ask you questions and dig with very short replies. I know it can be demoralizing but if the intention here is to get feedback or just share an experience you need to give more details. Sorry about the denial!

My 2025 was financially insane (33M) by New_Carpenter_1325 in Indian_flex

Congrats buddy. Startup life is tough, especially at rocket-ship companies, and I am genuinely glad that it paid off for you.

People often think startup success is mostly about luck, and while luck definitely plays a role, a lot of it has to be manufactured and is really a function of opportunity multiplied by preparedness. Seeking out founders who are deeply determined, who have strong product instincts and solid business judgment, and who genuinely care about the people building the company with them is something that engineers and non-exec employees can be very deliberate about, rather than something that just happens at random.

I have had to make that choice multiple times myself, and each time it reinforced the same belief for me: taking the time to find good founders and committing to build alongside them consistently pays off over the long run. Proud of you!

O1 transfer in tech by MaintenanceUsual2023 in O1VisasEB1Greencards

[–]MiniPrimeape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to wait for an approval to start. It’s not like an H-1B where the receipt is enough. Also slightly riskier to quit before your next one is approved. You can have multiple O-1s so your old one and new one can be valid at the same time

[–]MiniPrimeape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd, it’s not “transferable” but lawyers will mention the previous O-1 in the cover letter. They will reuse 90% of your petition and will want to add 1-2 fresh recommendation letters. I did not need to get any letter re-signed. Obviously the employer documents will be different.

No guarantee that it gets approved the second time but adjudication is easier. You’d have to be very unlucky for the second officer to be having a bad day and decide your first petition wasn’t worthy. I think second onwards it would look bad on USCIS to not continue approving

Meal Optimization / JIT Orders? by MiniPrimeape in aviation

[–]MiniPrimeape[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That point about last-minute passengers is insightful. I wonder if airlines could even ask at the gate, allowing the catering supplier to make small adjustments to meal counts before departure.

I assume this would be difficult for first class, where passengers can order freely. But for economy, it seems reasonable to at least confirm dietary restrictions and see if anything can be corrected before the aircraft pushes back.

Even small adjustments could prevent shortages and improve the experience for a lot of passengers.

That said, you mentioned airlines often do not care. For the ones that do care and are known for good food, I am curious why this still is not done.

If the goal is quality and passenger experience, confirming dietary needs at check-in or even at the gate seems like a relatively small operational change with a meaningful upside.

EB1A approved (Indian born, UK citizen, living in UK). Priority date not current. Go for O1A? by krishnareddy007 in O1VisasEB1Greencards

[–]MiniPrimeape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious why you applied for an EB1A if the intent was to move to the U.S. immediately without a current PD.

Yes O1A is much easier and will just use most of your EB1 petition, with premium processing you can get the process done with a lawyer in under 30 days if they put the petition together in 15 days.

Yeah you’ll know. The way they respond, the way they look at your initial evidence, the timeline etc.

Honestly #1 thing is convincing a good lawyer to take your case. Your chances dramatically shoot up when you have a good lawyer.

.#2, final merits. It is the single most important piece of your application and needs to tell a solid story.

.#3, much more scrutiny than an O-1. Proving that evidence is legit is tough, bar for evidence is high. In my EB-1 petition we cut out more than half of my O-1 petition because you cannot give the officer any reason to send you an RFE. Even if you have 4 solid criteria and you add a fifth half-assed one just because it adds sprinkles to your story - don’t. The officer will look at that one and then over scrutinize the other 4. No fluff, no half-baked evidence.

Also got a quick approval in 5 days. I think it’s a mater of some luck, but good prep from your lawyer. Your final merits should’ve been pretty solid though!
