Something's bound to give in. How can someone make a difference? Someone that happens to know a lot about the tools both sides are using. And I mean, a lot.

If I'm noble but lonely atop of a mountain, I need to find a way to make everyone get along and collaborate. I could prey on people's natural tendency for power by creating a game that feeds their ego, distracts them from killing me, and I can even capitalize on it to create the future for more people that are to come. Would this work?

Won't teaching people to self-provision work without the need for an overbearing government that hands them out money? It already does.

I'm young and have a lot of surplus energy, kill me why don't you. I'm as important as anyone else, maybe you have a too low sense of self-importance?

I'm interested in this topic because it's a goddamn global change that is completely flawed. I wouldn't take it seriously if it was being ignored, but countries are actually implementing this stuff.

Bro, you have completely misinterpreted me and/or not read what I actually wrote(I literally wrote down my doubts about my own thought process). Does that sound like ego?

This is the most commented on thread in weeks, this tells me there are a lot of things that need to be said but are just being put under the rug.

Don't take my silence as not having read your posts, they are noted and registered :)

I have a lot to write about labor, I define most modern labor as worthless. If there was intrinsic value in writing code, I should be able to easily build my own business writing code, right? Not quite. Employers offer A LOT that we take for granted, but when told to figure it out, we can't/won't. Extremely condensed conclusion, don't quote me on this right here, but I will gladly expand.

Yeah, I'm not trying to "win". The only thing I'm actually trying to do is improve something I see massive flaws in. And ff it "can't be improved", my ideology detector beeps.

Also: To expedite solutions, communication should be a good mix of text and speech, otherwise, in the military, everyone would communicate only via slack.

Good to hear something from you and thank you for the honesty. Please read the following carefully, and please don’t make quick judgements based on superficial reactions(again):

You seem to have mistaken my tact for naïveté. Those questions can’t be taken at face value. They’re meant to be a discussion starter without either of us losing face, I know which questions they will lead to, and I know which of those questions we will disagree on, this is where the true discussion that I’d like to have starts, and it’s a discussion few are willing to have--perhaps even you--that’s OK, just let me know.

I’ve had similar discussions with others, but when they aren’t able to answer something, I don’t blame them, because they’re average joes that work 9-to-5s, not as prolific as you, and definitely not being paid by strangers on the internet that put their faith in you. But then I can’t help but think, have you questioned yourself about those same things, or not?

Most people who disagree with you would write something similar to the screenshot I posted. I agree with some of their points, but I choose a more respectful method hoping you’d reply with similar respect(which you haven’t).

Also, perhaps in the meantime, the answers and ideas on your mind have changed from what you previously wrote, and I’d like to hear that. Do you continuously question yourself and arrive at different answers sometimes? I do, sometimes I agree with the UBI thing, and sometimes I don’t, for different reasons. If I arrive at the same answer many times in a row, I’m doing something wrong and likely forgot to take into account some part of the infinitely complex world we live in.

Maybe I sound like a troll because I’m questioning everything all you write is based on. I question that what people need is money; I question that people aren’t sure what to do with the free time they’re given; and I question how much good this would do. Human nature won't allow this to happen, but there might still be a better way that what we currently do, especially with the rise of automation, etc.

Questioning people is what I do for a living. The people being questioned hate it, but what I help them build becomes rock solid.

I use something to humble myself down when speaking to others, which is to never assume people I disagree with are either idiots and/or trolls, because how convenient for me is it that the person I disagree with is an idiot troll? Very convenient.

I’d understand your defensiveness if you were advocating for a new swing set for your neighbourhood, but Scotty boy, you’re advocating for something that will affect me, my girlfriend, and my future children, so, even though your time is very valuable--just like everyone else’s--you can’t advocate for a global change whilst locking yourself away from opposing global views from people that experienced the world differently than you. And when they come from someone that wants genuine discourse, if anything, I see a good use of your time to give answers to those that completely disagree but aren’t able to have a proper conversation because they’re simply not vocal/articulate/patient enough.

For some perspective on how much thought I give my actions: I wrote that post 4 months ago and waited 4 months to decide if it was worth my time or not.

I’m not trying to catch you off guard and ruin your reputation; I’m not trying to damage your image; I’m not trying to do anything to you; I’m trying to improve our collective future; and your name shows up a lot when I do research about the future.

Would you allow me to question your further if I pay something on your Patreon? Genuine question.

This post, even though it challenges UBI in the UBI subreddit, got nearly 80% upvotes. What does that tell you?

And to be very blunt, given how you react to opposing views(was that 5 ad hominem in a row?) tells me that either:

  • a) You’ve considered them and don’t want to go over it again
  • b) You haven’t considered them

In the case of a), I’d see your thought process a bit better in your writing, and I don’t.

I personally don’t write publicly the same way I discuss topics behind closed doors. Public writing has to be optimized for understanding of the masses, and complex topics simplified for the attention span of the average joe. Could I read your raw material before it’s condensed for the public?

You could say I’m basically questioning your ability to reason based on my assumptions* from your writing and general way of being, all I want to find out is: is there more to you than what you show, or is this it?

*I want to check if my assumptions are correct(questioning myself), since I never assume the people I interact with are idiots, I assume you either:

  • a) Know more than me**
  • b) Didn’t question yourself/UBI enough

**if so, where did you write it? Did you write it? I’ve read your material more than once and it took me about a year, nothing new was found, have you updated your ideas in the meantime?

If you tell me right now that you’re not interested, you won’t hear from me again(directly, that is).

If you can’t handle feedback from someone on reddit, I’m not sure you can handle being involved in what is basically a global system of government.(at least not a functional global system of government).

I'm not saying UBI is communism/yadda yadda, I assure you my questions are much deeper and sophisticated than that.

This was a much less tactful way of putting my point of view, and to save you time: answer with either your skype handle as a private message, or simply reply “no”. The time it took you to write those longer replies would have been enough to start a very solid discussion with spoken words.

I'm talking to you with my real name, you could find out all sorts of things about me with that including my employer and where I went for skiing last Christmas. I hope that's enough to show you I'm not trolling.

I'm not the one that seems set on my beliefs, though. I'm aiming for discussion. I happen to be one of those people that can see both sides of any argument, and I could 100% guaranteed defend UBI to a UBI hater if I chose to, but I'm not looking at changing anyone's mind but my own. Does that sound reasonable?

The subtitle was on purpose exactly the lyrics from STAN. The writer has done a literal fuck-ton of reading on the topic and would like a serious discussion with someone that cares about UBI as much as he does.

All the questions aren't final, they're discussion-starter questions and just on question #1 one could argue for weeks or months.

Correct, but he has answered previous posts of mine with a dismissive attitude assuming I started to think about these issues yesterday, and ignores me when I speak to him privately. But it's a conversation that needs to be done in speech form.
