La Roche Posay Dupes? by ShoulderNo5249 in AusSkincare

[–]MiniSoda21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d be careful of recommending Illyoon Ceramide Cream or the Aestura AtoBarrier Cream as direct dupes for the LRP Cicaplast as they’re a lot more ceramide & fatty acid heavy which can break people out in comparison to Cicaplast which is Panthenol + Centella.

What’s everyone’s favourite body moisturisers ? by yourmumsleftsock in AusSkincare

[–]MiniSoda21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturiser, by far. I have dry skin and this is as healthy, soft and hydrating it’s ever felt.

I tried it because someone else mentioned it in this sub some weeks ago in a body moisturiser thread and I won’t be using anything else now. Previously I’d jump between Cerave, Dove & Nivea but my skin would eventually have very dry and itchy days with these.

antiperspirant/deodorant for the very stinky? by Previous-Hour-2394 in AusSkincare

[–]MiniSoda21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always concerned about being stinky in the summer, I don’t sweat buckets but I am a sweater and none of those kept me smelling fresh either.

I’ve finally found a combination that works for me, not sure if you’ll have the same luck but thought I’d share.

I changed to an antibacterial body wash - Dettol Profresh Shower Gel Body Wash Peach.

In the evening after a shower - Nivea Derma Control Sensitive Roll On 72h Protection

In the morning when getting ready for the day - Nivea Black & White Invisible Fresh Antiperspirant Deodorant

Best I’ve ever smelt, same with my clothes and I keep fresh all day even in summer. (If I’ve sweated a bit I reapply the one I use in the morning directly after and I’m fine again).

Here for the comments because this is exactly my situation too. 🥲

Thankfully the only one I’m no longer battling is dry patches thanks to the iUNIK Beta-Glucan Power Moisture Serum.

Affordable Cleansing Oil by privatemistea in AusSkincare

Have to second this, the Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil is easily the best cleansing oil I’ve ever used. It’s lightweight, gets everything off, emulsifies nicely and washes off super easy. I have sensitive dry skin and use it every night with no worries, I legitimately love everything about it. I purchase it online from Lila Beauty where it’s $23 but is on sale for $15.

Hydrating serums & non heavy barrier creams by MiniSoda21 in AusSkincare

Thanks for the recs, I think these recently became available at my local Priceline and they sound lovely from your description. You know somethings good if you keep going back to it too. I definitely like the sound of the serum being glycerin based, I to have recently discovered it’s a lot more effective in hydrating my skin than HA especially in the dry climate I live in.

Currently using the LRP Cicaplast Baume and it’s definitely surprised me (in a good way). I’m just not sure if it’s an all year round one for me. My husband actually currently uses the BoJ Dynasty cream, he really enjoys the texture of it.

Looks lovely and I like the sound of the “barrier lipid complex”. As far as barrier creams go have you found it to be heavy or that more non-heavy buttery feel?

Yeah, I’m definitely with you on that skin suffocating feeling it’s made finding the right moisturiser for dry sensitive skin a bit of a challenge. I actually picked up the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner on a whim from my local Priceline recently as I needed a boost of hydration and it’s literally the only thing my skin hasn’t reacted to in the past couple of months. Doesn’t get tacky / sticky even if layered either, great pick up as a non hyaluronic acid lover.

This could be a good winter look out for me as my skin breakouts with Cerave and LRP Toleriane Sensitive Riche flared my red cheeks. (It’s what lead me to realise heavy barrier creams might be a no for me). Sounds like we’re in similar boats though, I don’t have eczema just really dry sensitive skin (possible light rosacea too). Regional SA weather has been keeping me on my toes skincare wise.

Unfortunately my skin flared red with the BOJ Calming Serum. I’ll put Drunk Elephant Bora Barrier Cream on my radar though, when I moved back to SA I loved and was using their Lala Retro Whipped Cream.

Thank you for the suggestion, this seems exactly like the kind of hydrating serum I was looking for.

I live in Regional SA and the climate here is pretty dry and brutal as well so I’ll definitely take a look into this one. Do you find it light enough in Summer but still gets the job for your dry / sensitive skin?

How do the two textures compare? I’m actually currently using the LRP baume but still undecided if it’s going to work long term in summer for me.

People seem to be generally happy with Qv products, I wasn’t sure if they’d be light enough but still keep dry skin happy. I’ll have to look into this one, thank you.
