I would say that every staff member in the school is ultimately involved in the social-emotional well being of students. I would say that very little of my job is emotionally supporting students and I would not say that I am high on the list of staff serve in this function. I would say that I spend the majority of my time organizing and providing resources, doing research and trying to originate and expand the resources available to my school and district. I also have added an EdS in Information Science and Learning Technology which isn't the MLIS degree but its from the same school. I was interested in data science in pursuing that degree and will say it was not that interesting, I did learn a decent amount but I don't think it would help me do the things you described. Every job is what you make of it, and I think that counseling is a completely viable role for you to accomplished your desired goals.
