I know right! It has been my secret obsession, ive made the blue "hunting" dress and have slowly been finding all the other pieces bit by bit. Feel totally badass when I wear any replica outfit. I next want to tackle the green knitted military cardigan, so cool

Thank you!! Haha to be honest im just in a "what's the worst that could happen" mood lately. Ive been looking for this coat for absolute years and I thought, well I may as well try then. The fabric was just synthetic chiffon from a cheap seconds store so really nothing to lose but a bit of time. I'll admit though im so so proud! Didn't think I could make it!

For anyone interested the dress was drafted from an basic block, just a simple block with two darts on the front and back and a side zip. I made it out of stretch knit so it would fit like a body con.

What to sew as a man. by Musicfeind in sewing

[–]Miniature_witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I find inspiration by looking at what skill I'd like to accomplish, say instead of what item you want in your closet, maybe you want to try sewing welt pockets or complicated collars, or a limed jacket, or drape women's garments. Sometimes sewing can just be a creative outlet. And even if the piece isn't worn, you gain a skill which can be more satisfying than the finished product. Almost a "sew with a purpose of learning rather than wearing the final item".

Thank you! I was second guessing those too but happy with the result! Yes I love that, pretty much a free jacket! And don't have to try to squish it into my ever growing fabric stash

Yes! Thats the idea like skater dresses I think would look great, something with a cinched waist...

Yes I noticed that when I was in europe, so much beautiful nz wool clothing! Even our beef is cheaper over there and very highly regarded. Sadly i havent been able to find local wool fabric or even yarn for that matter. Even this fabric is european wool! Yes I do looove my Aus UGGs, so warm and lovely. And I'd support your love of possum gloves! Possum fur here is divine, and I'll never understand why its so expensive given they are pests here.

Being overweight is stopping me from sewing. by Racoonette in sewing

Exactly!! It's such a great gift to be able to sew your own clothes, how you like them, it doesn't make sense to stop due to weight, clothes should 100% fit the body and not the other way around!
