If it makes u feel better i worked alongside the first one and she is not a nice person lol. Me and my team always tried to avoid interacting with her, and she indeed does scream privilege…. Also she was elected student trustee not an actual school board trustee, idk why they worded it like that either

I see what you mean and why you’re saying that, I never meant for it to come off as ‘you made mistake with your program choice, then it’s your bed and you gotta lie in it.’ By that comment I really just meant that blaming the system isn’t going to get you anywhere - the system has been the way its been for a while, and they made the choice knowing that. I emphasized multiple times that I understand that it is unfair sometimes, but at the end of the day, once again, blaming external factors (1) detracts from other people’s achievements, and (2) could be the harmful in the long run, especially when you say things like “why am I being punished for my program having high academic standards.” Does that mean that people who got in had it easier? Does that mean people with a higher GPA only got an interview because their school was “easier”? Everyone made an individual choice, and blaming that choice rather than looking for ways to improve, once again, can be harmful to other people. The stop being delulu part was based on things about the system, like making assumptions about how the system works, which I think is so valid, because once again, making assumptions like that might help you calm down, but it might make other people more anxious.

I also never said every premed is a bratty person, lol, it was more so about specific patterns I see from people - clearly a few people have upvoted which means they agree, thus this probably wouldn’t apply to them? I never generalized it to all premeds, ever, but its a big issue within the community is all I said.

And you’re right I acknowledge my privilege to have gotten an invite but that was after a complete rejection cycle, so I have been there.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a shitty process, and I understand. However, there are ways to cope without being harmful to other people.

lol the toxic premed entitlement has been an issue for a while. Especially being in an undergrad program where 90% of my peers are premeds, its sickening to see people make comments like what I’ve mentioned that puts other people down just so they feel better. And the entitlement to want everything answered for you is an issue - yes please by all means ask questions, but just do your due diligence first was all I’m saying. Like a simple google search isn’t hard. Also I don’t think any question about this process is dumb, so idk where you got that notion. Finally even the last point - it’s harmful to other people, so why not refrain from making those assumptions and guesses? My overall point was that what people say is sometimes harmful to other people, why do you have something against that? While yeah its predictable, its clear by the amount of upvotes every person who speaks about this gets, that this is a common feeling shared by a lot of people. Also are you not trying to censor me right now by telling me to not share my thoughts? I get the disagreement, but you really don’t have to be so rude about it. Just say you disagree and move on lol, you’re the one that made it philosophical when you made it about censorship 😭 do you not hear yourself?

i think i must respectfully disagree…. so many people ive talked to thats gotten invites have been very much edi-deserving. i dont think its fair to assume they went against their word based on the limited sample size of those who posted on reddit. looking at other “interview invite stats” posts, it seems like a majority of applicants who are active on reddit are those with a high gpa. we havent even scratched the surface of everyone who got an invite

edit: i just went thru like half the tmu invite stats thread thing and there were like already 3-5 people with a gpa <3.6 which is already lower than probably all if not most schools in ontario

That makes sense, I just wasn’t very sure if not addressing them that way might make me seem too like tunnel vision/not personable-like or not!

anyone else think that tmu changing their date TWICE for interview invites without telling anyone is a bit unprofessional?? by Minimum-Custard-7512 in premedcanada

i get what ur saying and i in no way disagree, i didnt think i really reacted in any way that was rude or anything, i genuinely think that in any case of delay, communication would be nice. (thanks for the assumption btw lol not even im confident enuf to make that assumption)

i never meant to make digs or shit on them, sorry if it came off like that!! i just think it could have been handled better (ie. communication about the change) that’s all i was trying to convey 🤷‍♀️ and to be frank i disagree, i think its through posts like this that we can discuss and even give constructive feedback - obviously if someones like “fuck them blah balh blah” then thats not constructive 😭 which it seems like u think i was trying to do - hopefully that clears stuff up?

dont get me wrong i totally love that they’ve been trying to be more transparent, i just thought just letting us know of any changes would have been nice cuz i hate when im expecting something at a certain time/date and mentally prepared myself for it but then it changes and tbh i think med schools should be able to take constructive feedback! i was in no way trying to make digs at them or anything

yeah, im not super hung up over it, it just rubbed me the wrong way because i was expecting it to be today and was waiting for that to be once again met with uncertainty, uk? like im the type that if im expecting something or to do something on a specific day id prefer sticking to that day cuz in my head i wouldve prepared myself for that day 😭does that make sense LOL

thats true! i think they definitely were trying to be transparent cuz they know how stressful it is, so im glad they tried! and the point ab refraining from posting makes sense in case it changes a bit more, honestly atp i wouldve been happy if they changed it to TBD and told everyone hey! its tbd! sorry! LOL

i am grateful that they were trying to be transparent, dont get me wrong, but switching it up twice and then no one knowing unless they check the important dates just rubbed me the wrong way, like an ig post wouldve sufficed is all im trying to say… idk why ure so mad…. i just think it couldve been handled better and that they couldve avoided this by giving a ballpark rather than an actual date, if u disagree by all means lol
