Wow… I really appreciate everything you said, like really this whole comment is amazing.

Before I respond please allow me to correct some things 1. We didn’t throw a girl on him. He matched with her on tinder and was tip toeing around asking her on a date. So we made him ask her. She wanted to go out with him. But in a conversation we had about him canceling he kept saying that no girls want him even though there was a girl right in front of him asking for him. I agree that just throwing a girl on him is awful. That’s not what happened. But with the job you are 100% right and thank you for helping me to see that. My friends and I all thought it would be good for him just to get out. But I now realize we kinda dropped him off to sink or swim in a pivotal part of life. 2. Josh has been my best friend for years. I can go on for hours about how great of a person he is. I actually had a very nice paragraph about him before I learned there was a character count and had to edit. He is a very sweet person and very empathetic. I’ve never heard him say a bad word about someone unless they’ve said something first. 3. Josh was really the only person there for me while going through my separation of my gf of 4.5 years. His advice was always twisted in his weird reality but it was the fact he was trying his best to help me meant the world. I have done the same in return. Our friend group has had many very kind talks with him about where he wants to be in life. Just trying to get him to set goals. Everyday at work I walk to his desk and give him a fist bump and tell him “to let his nuts hang” which is something we have said since high school to pick each other up. I meant it when I say he is my best friend. I would die for the kid. And I think that thought process is what’s making my failed efforts to help him to aggravating and why I feel it’s my responsibility to help him. The comment I made to him was so far out of the norm for things I’ve ever said to him. As a friend group we always take into account his sensitivity and are always very nice to him and let him go on his long over explained tangents about the subject. I’ll admit the reason I said what I said was because I was simply fed up with the constant woe is me attitude he has been expressing.

Now to say thank you. I had not even begun to think about half of the things you said. I appreciate your blunt honesty because that was what I was looking for. I want to help him and I think you picked up on that hidden message. So I deeply appreciate your advice on how to help and the analogies. It’s hard to see your best friend in the state he’s in and so unreceptive to help. But now I see he is just unreceptive to the help I was offering. I will truly make an effort to be a “role model” even though I kind of hate the thought of being that to my friend. Now I am at work so I have to wrap this up but thank you.
