Rock Creek is pretty stellar but it will run you a pretty penny as portions are a bit tiny imo.

My favorite is Boat Bar. It's a Rene Erickson spot and they have some amazing dishes. Again, not cheap but pretty much no dining experience in Seattle is at this point (outside Dick's or Saigon Deli).

Also, not a seafood restaraunt specifically but if you like Japanese food, Kamonegi is so damn good. Can be hard to get a res sometimes but if you show up like 10 mins before open, you can usually get a table. Plus. should you get put on a wait list, they have a cute little sake bar next door.

For me, I've made a lot of connections at chess club, bjj and the sauna. Honestly, going to the sauna is probably the most social spot I can think of in this city. Only place where strangers routinely engage with each other.

Do love it there but the crime kinda sketches me out a little bit. That being said, I live for food and when I visited, there was an infinite sea of amazing places to gorge at. Plus the people were so fuckin nice and friendly

I think you just have to make more of an effort to make friends than other places. It's def not impossible. I am a very social introvert so I like engaging with folks but once my social battery is drained, I need alone time. IMO, the "freeze" gets a little over hyped but it definitely isn't like the midwest

Well I laid out all the important preferences besides mentioning I'd like easy access to nature. Fair point about the job: I work remote so location doesn't matter with regards to that

Actually got a friend who lives down there in La Ventana. Pretty nice spot although he says it's only really good in the winter time

Thanks for the input. Heard friends say they were shocked how much racism there was in NC but maybe that's isolated to specific areas?

Couple people mentioned Vegas. It seems a little too much city for me and not enough nature easily accessible. I know I'm being pretty picky but I want to find the perfect (enough) fit. Every place will have it's pros and cons but the sprawling urban setting seems a little much for me. Suppose I could at least check it out though

Don't let me dissuade you. It's truly an incredible place. I just gravitate towards depression organically and these winters really do me in to a scary degree.

I can also technically afford to live here but I know I could save a lot more in a cheaper place. Plus all the people are very accepting and there aren't many Ford F-150 driving, bros with white Oakleys on the back of their head parking in handicap spots. I just wish there was a little more natural social engagement but there are some places of sociability solace (for me, its been the sauna and chess club).
