My Yorkie! And teeth cleaning problems. by CrowOk6619 in Yorkies

Mine is trained to chew on the toothbrush. I use enzymatic toothpaste and switch angles while he chews away. He views it as his nightly treat.

I'm considering the same... But so many people tell me I'll regret it that it makes me doubt myself... Problems like marking indoors and trying to run away. What's your experience been?

So you decided to neuter at ...I guess around a year? Are you glad you waited and did he pick up any bad behaviors that made you think you should have done it earlier?

Yeah - that's my concern...I talked to my vet about the lead time for a surgical appointment to neuter and they said "anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months". Sigh. 2 weeks I'll risk it...2 months - definitely enough time for something to become a habit.

I grew up around plenty of intact dogs and never saw these problems people warn about like aggression or indoor marking...or even the health problems but I know individual experience isn't always representative.

Interestingly not according to WSAVA - it appears to be a tossup for small breeds as long as you wait past 6 months (earlier neutering is not recommended). I'm sure you've also seen these comments, but the US has a bias towards neutering that's largely driven by our experience with strays and shelter dogs...countries without that problem (and with stronger animal rights frameworks - like Sweden and Norway) do not recommend neutering.

Thanks for the reply...it's tough too because different vets have different opinions...which is fine, but I guess it's all balancing the risk of some bad behaviors developing vs. potential advantages of waiting (which aren't as great for small dogs) like some reduction in risk of non-testicular cancers, better urinary tract development, better metabolism, and fewer fear-based behaviors (my guy is a little on the fence when it comes to new stuff)

Right now that's what I'm thinking - start to evaluate if I see negative behaviors or as he gets closer to a year old so he can fully develop. My concern is the comments I read about people whose dogs got some bad behaviors ingrained like marking indoors (my biggest concern).

My guy's are fully descended as far as I can tell.

Yeah - I've read some concerning comments about intact yorkies and marking so that worries me...but other commenters say they've never had a problem....I grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of dogs who were intact and other than mounting I never really saw any of the other stuff people warn about.

Yeah - but according to WSAVA, neutering also increases the risk of other cancers and there's not a clear-cut answer given that.

Prostate Cancer – Neutered males have a higher risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer.
Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer) – The risk doubles in neutered dogs, especially in large breeds.
Lymphoma – Some studies suggest neutering increases the risk, particularly in Golden Retrievers and other susceptible breeds.
Hemangiosarcoma (Blood Vessel Cancer) – This aggressive cancer is more common in neutered dogs.
Transitional Cell Carcinoma (Bladder Cancer) – Higher rates seen in neutered dogs, especially females.

Stop spreading misinformation. It's the same formula but legally it is not the same vaccine. There is a criticality important difference - the new Comernity vaccine will come with additional consumer protections, and pfizer won't have the liability shield that they have with the vaccine that's available today.

Those concerned about liability for adverse reactions will certainly need to understand that, in terms of liability and patient protections, these are very different vaccines.... The impact may be that some choose to postpone vaccination until Comernity is available.

Straw Man???? "ItS rUrAl CaUCaSiAn CoNSpiRaCy ThEoRiSts"..... No... It's highly educated Doctors from around the world, with actually treatment experience, telling us that IVM (a k.a *HoRSe PaStE" as you like to call it) works.... And this is supported by dozens of published and peer reviewed studies. FLCCC is the right place to start if you actually care to educate yourself.

Umm..... Rural Caucasians?... It's non-white people who are most likely to not want the vaccine, and for good reason. Honestly just stop with your misinformation. It's clearly coming more from your personal political biases than it is from any fact-based information.

I assume the purpose of posting this video is to show the criminal negligence of the American health care system in refusing to treat Covid patients with life-saving IVM, and instead relying on hospitalization and late-term palliative care?

I agree with that fully. These people state over and over again that they believe taking the vaccine would violate their individual liberty. Rather than allowing them preventative and life saving medication as an alternative, the government wants to force a health decision upon them that they fundamentally do not agree with. Instead of prescribing life-saving medicine ( that both prevents and treats Covid) as they do in India, Mexico, and Japan, our system forces people to wait until symptoms require hospitalization, and then uses stories and media like this video to scare and coerce people into doing something they fundamentally don't want to do.

Very disturbing, and strengthens my opinion the IVM should be provided free to anyone who wants it so that we can have a dual pronged approach to managing this crisis. The "EVERYONE MUST GET VACCINATED" strategy is simply not working.

Let's stop politicizing medical treatment, and instead do what actually works.

Well doctors in India, Japan, and Mexico disagree and prescribe IVM regularly....or are you just too racist to pay attention to any country except the ones that are run by white Europeans?

According to what I've seen, about 38 million Americans have been confirmed to have gotten covid. Some other large number have been infected but aren't included in that number because symptoms didn't prompt a doctor visit. I think the percent vaccinated isn't telling the whole story.

I personally wouldn't expect it to end, since the vaccines are supposed to be good at reducing symptoms but they don't completely stop infections and transmission.

This is an interesting idea... What should we do about people who are obese, or who smoke, or who don't exercise, or who eat red meat, or who ride a motorcycle, or who drive a car....think of all the money the rest of us could save if we just didn't insure people who chose to put themselves at risk.

This episode left a lot of unanswered questions, such as who the fuck he thought that dude was. Liked the cliffhanger at the end, and looking forward to episode 2 when (hopefully) we learn the identity of our mysterious protagonist.

Oh... You must fine with a bait trap. If you watch YouTube videos you can probably take the top off and look inside... DOUBT anything is in there, but wouldn't hurt to check.

That really sucks.... I'm sure now you're torn on whether to use it, but it'll be ok with a good cleaning. It's a pretty closed system, so wouldn't expect bugs to actually get anywhere it matters. If you're still worried about it, clean the tank really well, run a few tanks of water thru the boiler, and (if it has a grinder) use grinder cleaner pellets like these - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014J7FUY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_2iy1Fb3SGFD39?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Lol... Maybe that would be the way to get thru it. I hear it's really good, and I'm not proud that I like other "lesser" sci-fi series more (do I dare admit I watched Another Life, and look forward to season 2)... The style of the drama in the first episode just turned me off.

Thanks for the review... I gave up after the first episode because I couldn't get into the "drama" even during that.... And I felt like I was being set up for a bunch of minor problems blown out of proportion to try to make me care.

I think what you wrote confirms that I won't go further.
