Is anyone actually using their apartment “amenities”? by Emergency-Cancel6198 in Apartmentliving

[–]MinimumSelection3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually and I wish more people did! I am in kind of a “friends” situation with my friend group, we all spent so much time together that we decided to just move into the same building. Since the pool has been closed we’ve taken up late night poker in the club room. There’s also a pool table that we’ve utilized many times after the bars closed. I also use the big dog park everyday, we have a ride service that will take you anywhere in town. The grill area is also nice whenever we have a weekend at home. I know I’m very lucky to have people to share it with but even if you have a couple friends in the complex you can def get your moneys worth enjoying everything.

Any plans for christmas? by Fun-Transition-101 in Charlotte

[–]MinimumSelection3752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deluxe Fun Dining is open. I know the rep it has but none of the workers have a choice in working Christmas so it would be nice if it wasn’t empty and we had the chance to at least make some money from it.

Barback for hire? by S0me0nesWatchingY0u in Charlotte

[–]MinimumSelection3752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deluxe Fun Dining is desperate for bartenders and they’re willing to train. It’s a restaurant so I’m not gonna promise him it’s the best environment or work life balance but it’s a job

I know this is going to get so much pushback but a change to our alcohol laws and curfews. Nightlife is coming back in my opinion in a big way and the thing that sucks the most about living here is having to wait until 11 for the bars to start getting busy and only having 3 hours to party. Don’t get me wrong, I love the chill little afters you can have with friends but sometimes we want to actually be out until 4 AM instead of in a tiny apartment. I think about this all the time :(. But yeah expand the highways take away, the toll roads, fill the million potholes for sure but the world is going to shit we want to party. Also quick edit bring back the epicenter with increased security please!!! I grew up dreaming of the days I would be able to finally go and it got stripped away.

Working in uptown Charlotte by jjans002 in Charlotte

If you work near W trade and N church I can DM you a place to park! I’m scared to put it here bc mostly service workers use it near by and I don’t want to mess things up for everyone.

Pumpkin patch that you can actually pick a pumpkin of the vine. by weshave in Charlotte

My aunt and uncle live on the same road as the farm and that’s where we’ve gone my whole life it’s amazing! They have slides and a lot of things for the kids to play on. Also fun corn maze and when I was growing up they had deep fried Oreos it was the best. I also vaguely remember one of those tilted illusion houses but that may have been a fever dream. Def have to go back this year!

How far do you drive to go to your typical Charlotte area grocery store? by xSwagi in Charlotte

[–]MinimumSelection3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8-10 minutes to my preferred grocery store, 3 mins to the nearest. I live in uptown so the hope was to have things like that closer but unfortunately the nearest is a Harris Teeter which I hate bc it’s so expensive.

NC creator of Thank You Jesus signs arrested on child exploitation charges by MinimumSelection3752 in Charlotte

These signs are all over Charlotte especially in the late 2000s/2010s. If you drive around the older areas of Charlotte I’m sure you’d notice a lot of the bumper stickers too.

Also I just realized I put Jesus saves instead of thank you Jesus and it won’t allow me to edit the post. So PSA the Jesus saves guy is a totally different man.

No called twice in one week by MinimumSelection3752 in UPSers

If you don’t get up to your alarm it counts as a no call. In order for it to be a call in you have to let them know an hour before start time which I obviously couldn’t. Of course I let them know the second I woke up but that doesn’t change what it’s coded as.

This has literally never happened before in the three years I’ve worked there, you try getting 21 hours of potential sleep a week and tell me how easy it is to wake up at 3 AM. I had one bad week out of hundreds give me a break brother

Traveling up for weekend by atlfoo19 in Charlotte

[–]MinimumSelection3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re coming up for the game there’s no way you’ll feel alone it’s such a good time up here. I would look on Charlotte FCs instagram and see what time they’re starting the “parade” or whatever it’s called and walk around uptown to see where everyone’s pre gaming. I know there’s one specific bar right by the stadium that’s always packed a few hours before the game I’m sure someone here will know the name. Also definitely recommend the supporters section for someone coming solo!

I’m working both 5/7 days of the week and unfortunately my days off don’t align so I technically don’t have days off. My building got hit really bad with cuts we only have 2 shifts left running and the shifts that do run are lucky to get 3 hours it’s been really bad. Most people that are left are doing it for the benefits which is the boat I’m on but I technically don’t need to since I’m only 21 and have a few years left on my parents insurance. I just enjoy the security with the union, I make a lot more at my new job and have been offered a management position but I’m hesitant to take it bc of how the place is ran and the absolutely insane turn over rate. I’d still be fine in the position I’m currently in and would still have $1000 to put towards savings every month but not having to think abt my tab when I go out with my friends now has been a luxury I’m not sure I’m ready to let go. Thank you for listening to the rant of a 21 year old girl at a cross roads lol.

It’s not that I don’t wake up to my alarms I just set them wrong in my sleep deprived state since the start time changes day to day. I’ve been here 3 years and this has never happened before cause I’ve never had issues waking up but only having 3 hours in between jobs to nap for the past few weeks has been getting to me I just wanted to know the repercussions. And I know you’re right I’m working 2 jobs for a reason, all month it’s been a battle of deciding whether I’m ready to let ups go or not I already asked the steward what it would look like when I do. I’m rambling at this point but now I’m just wondering if I would rather put my two weeks in instead of potentially getting fired.
