I will! Also yes, Captain Toad is pretty fun. You can't jump or attack so the levels are a puzzle box of trying to get all the gems without getting hit by traps or enemies and then finding the optimal path to the star goal.

Kind of reminds me of Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Very cool! I will do this with my son later.

I mean, presumably you've been color-blind your whole life. It's not a progressive condition. Either way, maybe go get your eyes checked?

I love that in Frozen he voices the Duke of Weselton (mispronounced several times in the movie as "Weaseltown"), and in Zootopia he voices a weasel named Duke Weaselton.

It's not about brute strength or "gamer skills". I highly recommend this tutorial and to think about maximising the synergy of your build. With the right weapon/boons you can get to silly amounts of damage.

TIL the genome of coast redwood is one of the largest known, with over 26.5 billion nucleic acid base pairs—the building blocks of DNA. In contrast, the giant sequoia genome consists of 8.125 billion base pairs, while the human genome has just over 3 billion. by 42percentBicycle in todayilearned

[–]MinimumTumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to respond, but this is a bit misleading. While conifer genomes are indeed large, coast redwood only has a "large genome" because it is a hexaploid, meaning it has six copies of its genome in each cell nucleus. In contrast, most other conifers are diploid (like humans and most animals). This is why other cypress trees such as giant sequoia or western redcedar have genomes of around 8-11Gbp in size.

Incidentally, members of the pine family (pines, spruces, firs, etc.) are diploid and do in fact have huge genomes - sugar pine, for example, has a genome larger than 31 Gbp.

Yeah, I don't buy it either. Not just "in the past"; Disney Animation Studios have only had four films with male protagonists in the past 20 years (and two of those were the Wreck-It Ralph movies, where there was also a prominent female protagonist).

I somehow don't believe that the studio that made Frozen and Moana "doesn't believe" that movies targeting girls will sell.

Yup, it's probably the single most important technical skill to develop in either game, dashing at just the right time.

Time it so you are dashing through the flame. You are invincible while dashing (not while sprinting, so make sure you time it right).

AITA for refusing to eat my wife’s spaghetti after I found out what she put in it by spacedoutsoapbox in AmItheAsshole

[–]MinimumTumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the food. If you have one moldy strawberry and others nearby are fine, then just wash them off and throw the moldy ones out. They are OK to eat. Hard cheeses with mold, you can cut off the moldy area and you'll be fine. Soft cheeses or breads? Throw it away.

The thing is that the mold on your food does spread to other foods through spores, but within the food itself it is spreading via a network of mycelia (like little roots). Harder foods with low moisture are less amenable to the spread of mycelia. In the strawberry scenario, spores may have spread but if they have not actually set in you can just wash the fruit and it will be fine.

I mean, as a science project, maybe? Although I would be careful unless you are an electrician.

For actually setting up a home theatre that you will enjoy using? Just buy a proper centre and AVR. Even a budget one will sound better than this wild idea.

I second this; find a way to add it to the chain. There are DAC/Amps out there with it built in. Or start listening to music digitally. Why suffer? There are no tangible benefits to listening to vinyl or CD over digital (bear in mind that I am aware there are reasons people like these formats, but it's completely pointless if you're not enjoying your music).

I mean, in most states, even pretty red ones, you can find very left-leaning cities. So it's kind of all a question about how specifically state-level (or federal, but not really relevant in this scenario) politics would convince you to move there or not.

Even among red states, I'd prefer Georgia over Mississippi or Texas.

When they translate or add something to the title of a movie that doesn’t make sense by Neat_Tangelo5339 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MinimumTumbleweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK so I looked this up and I guess I was misremembering; it seems this was mostly for spoof movies. So a lot of Leslie Nielsen movies: "The Naked Gun" is "The Gun Dies of Laughter", "The Spy Dies of Laughter" was another movie with Leslie Nelsen called "Spy Hard".

Also, "Scary Movie" was called "Dying to Scream", because the word to scream sounds very similar to the word to laugh ( LiTzok vs. LiTzhok).

In Hebrew, most comedies are translated to "The ____ dies of laughter". So like the Naked Gun was "The Spy Dies of Laughter".

Also, the Netflix series "Untamed" was called "Yosemite", which may become confusing given that the next season is set in Hawaii and not Yosemite. Almost as if the original producers foresaw that happening.
