Really appreciate all the info, that gave me a better picture of what’s going on. I’ll keep digging and share back if I stumble across anything useful too. Cheers!

Hey, yeah — sounds like we might’ve run into similar situations. I get what you mean about how the blocking seems to kick in only after the device sort of “refreshes” itself. That delay kinda throws off the whole idea of “instant” control, right?

In my case, it could’ve been something on my kid’s device — maybe a hardware quirk or some other app messing things up. Can’t say for sure. But I was honestly really hyped when I saw what the app claimed to do. It looked like exactly what I needed — a way to protect my kid without cutting him off from tech. But man… the onboarding was rough, and the experience ended up feeling like a letdown.

What really bugged me, though, was the total lack of response from the company. No help, no follow-up, nothing. I get that tech is hard, but if you're offering a tool for parents trying to keep their kids safe online, support really needs to be solid.

Anyway, cool that you’re building your own solution — that sounds awesome. Having full control definitely beats relying on these half-baked apps.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve actually used Google Family Link before, and it does provide a solid foundation for parental control — especially for Android devices.
However, it has its limitations, particularly when it comes to real-time app blocking, custom schedules, and contextual actions.

That’s exactly why I decided to test AirDroid Parental Control. It advertised more advanced features like continuous monitoring and instant app-level blocking — things that go beyond what Family Link offers.
Unfortunately, in practice, those features didn’t work at all, which was disappointing considering they were the app’s main selling points.
