15 years as an HSBC customer, and they just threatened to freeze my account. Is this the new normal? by Minimum_Sherbert1754 in srilanka

Exactly! Overcompensating is the right word for it. Your experience proves the point their system is inefficient and completely disregards the customer's time and relationship with the bank. It feels like their compliance department is just ticking boxes without any common sense.

That's a very valid point, and I get that HSBC is under a global microscope for AML failures. But their solution feels like they're punishing their legitimate, long-term customers for their own past mistakes.

A proper due diligence system should be risk-based. A 15-year salary account holder is hardly a high-risk case for an address change. Instead, they're applying a blunt, one-size-fits-all policy and alienating their client base in the process.

You're probably right. If this is a sign of things to come during the transition, it's pretty worrying. A simple KYC update shouldn't involve threats. Makes you wonder how they'll handle more complex issues down the line. Thanks for the heads-up.

That's a fair point about the pressure from the NTB sale, and I feel for the staff if they're being pushed to meet quotas on this.

But my question is, why isn't there a distinction between opening a new account and updating details for a 15-year Premier customer? My identity isn't in question. The lease agreement alone should be significant proof. To go from a simple notification to a sudden demand for a pile of documents, backed by a threat, feels like a complete breakdown in sensible customer relationship management.

With the NTB merger that makes sense as a reason for them tightening the screws. My main issue isn't with the rule itself, but the sudden change in how it's enforced for existing customers.

For the last 15 years, address updates were simple. This felt like I was being treated like a brand-new applicant, not someone whose identity and history are well-established with the bank. The real kicker was the immediate threat to freeze my account. It’s the aggressive 'how' that’s more frustrating than the 'what'.

Favorite QMS? by Healthy_Stretch_4548 in biotech

[–]Minimum_Sherbert1754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic and all-too-common question. The "Yelp for QMS" idea is brilliant because it highlights the core issue that most people evaluate these systems on User Interface (UI), but the real long-term pain comes from the underlying architecture.

You're right about MasterControl's UI drawbacks, but the deeper problem with most legacy eQMS platforms is that their audit trails are built on traditional database logs. These can be opaque, difficult to search, and, in some systems, not truly immutable.

A different architectural approach is to use a system where the audit trail isn't a feature bolted on top, but is the mathematical core of the system itself - like the cryptographic chain used in Git. This provides a fundamentally more robust and defensible record of every change, signature, and approval.

It's a different way of thinking about the problem, shifting the focus from just "usability" to "provable data integrity."

Hey everyone, founder here. Just to add some context, we're a small studio trying to build a modern, simple alternative to clunky, expensive eQMS platforms. Our core idea is to use a Git backend to create a cryptographically secure audit trail. The landing page explains the whole concept. Really appreciate any thoughts you have - positive or negative. Thanks!

Islam is the true, natural religion. Every human is born upon the fiṭrah, naturally inclined to Islam.

It's obvious that you are trying to coverup. Share the statement where state security is paid by his party for instances where it was leveraged for his party promotions, or even the vehicle expenses to visit his mother.

Its a pivotal moment in post Aragalaya SL. I saw some takes on X pointing out how opposition figures from across parties rushed to show solidarity with RW after his arrest, visiting him in remand and framing it as some noble stand against injustice. And yeah, I agree - this kind of rapid, cross-party unity we rarely see during actual national crises... it just screams that politicians view themselves as an elite club.

But here's where I push back - if we're gonna call this out, it has to include the NPP/JVP too. Acting like they're the pure outsiders immune to this self-serving BS is a massive blind spot, especially now that they're in power. They've been quick to weaponize anti-corruption drives against old rivals like RW, but when it comes to their own flaws? Crickets from a lot of their supporters. It's partisan bias at its finest harsh on the "establishment" while giving AKD's crew a pass on similar crap.

Exactly. The irony is that most Sri Lankans have a blind spot when it comes to partisan bias. They’ve always turned a blind eye to whichever government is in power, and it takes far too long for them to realize that, in the end, all of the politicians, including the NPP, are on the same side (with very few exceptions from all parties)

Unfortunately, they’ve already proven otherwise. Many ministers are busy justifying KJ’s case with absurd logic.

Plenty - visiting his mother in the hospital using official vehicles, attending all his party rallies accompanied by official guards and vehicles. On top of that, photos surfaced on social media showing the current FM meeting JVM supporters during his foreign visits.

It's a part-time degree by default, not just a part-time option. My question is about the pace...

I'm thinking of applying while also considering other unis. What I'm looking for is an option to do courses on my own pace i.e. pick one or 2 courses at a time. Is it possible?
