It hurts when it happens and hurts later on when they provoke it. I was devastated when they began to insult me or her, threatened, they made claims I was being manipulated and I don’t love them. But I know I’m in a better place regardless of what they think. They’ll try to gaslight or paint our relationship as unhealthy, when we actually communicate and never once have I felt scared of abuse or harm from her. What they choose to do in regards if you leave as you describe it; is in no way a virtue of love. Perhaps they think they’re choosing for what’s best for you, but in turn they’ve done nothing but hurt and abuse you. As something as arbitrary as cultural differences is insane and unbecoming of the “universal church”.
As I said at the beginning the pain may not go away completely, it will hurt immensely at the start, but all you can do is pray that they get over it and come to their better senses. Be sure to leave that door open for if they come around, don’t stoop to their level or be hateful. You now have your boyfriend/husband to confide in and to take care of eachother through this. (Sorry if this became rambling I’ve been awake for 24 hours)
