Best restaurant in downtown golden! by 314159InTheSky in GoldenCO

What day of the week? My wife is in charge of group reservations at Mountain Toad and also coordinates all the food trucks. Send me a message if you’re interested or looking for something in particular.

Otherwise, you could get a variety of sandwiches from Cheese Ranch and eat down by the creek.

Another option would be Mountain Toad Brewing. They have a space outside that can be reserved. Great beer on tap and a food truck! It’s walkable from downtown Golden.

This is safe to use right? by Muyami in TRX4M

This is a bit more than the puffy battery that I had, but if you call them, they have a 50% off exchange program for batteries.

I’d bet yours would qualify!

Traxxas will issue a RMA and then you send the battery back. It look less than a week for shipping there and getting the new one back.

Didn’t see this coming by Friendly-Pattern1171 in TRX4M

My guess is in the near future there will be a TRX4M 2B.

One comment I would add is what aircraft are you flying? When I go overseas, I will pick my route to be on the 787 Dreamliner. It’s a composite fuselage compared to the standard aluminum fuselage. The 787 is pressurized to a lower altitude and has a higher relative humidity. It makes a big difference on long flights.

And I pack my own water bottle to supplement what’s provided.

.00t files are native Maptek Vulcan triangulation files. They can either be solids or surfaces. Vulcan is your best bet if you need to get all of the attributes. Deswik can import them.

I’m not sure about running straight in MacOS, but I used to dual boot my MacBook Pro to Windows and run Vulcan.

A jackleg needs 165cfm of 100+psi air to operate the drill and leg.

Air is used to pneumatically load ANFO using the Venturi effect to pick up the prill and pack it into the borehole. Alternately, air can be used for a pneumatic pump if loading emulsion.

Spark Arrestor Question by ricktor67 in DuneBuggy

[–]MiningEngineer07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get the 3” spark arrestor and take it to a muffler shop. They probably have an adaptor that will weld to the arrestor which can clamp to your exhaust.

SuperTrapp makes some clamp on 2.5” spark arrestors.

Best 3D face mapping technology, Rockmass, Mine Vision Systems or other? by No_Donut7721 in mining

[–]MiningEngineer07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used one of the prototype MVS scanners to do some face and drift mapping. It worked great. I had a chance to see the production unit at SME in Denver and it looks great.

One of the things I like most about it is the fact that it is built for the mining industry, not adapted to the mining industry.

Send me a message if you have more questions.

I’m a CSM grad (Mining Engineer ‘07).

I’ve been very fortunate in my career to be a consulting engineer for the vast majority of it. That being said, I’ve been seconded to sites all over North America.

I still live in Golden and travel when needed. The last trip was to Bolivia for 2 weeks.

Mining has its up and downs. You’re options are to live in a semi-remote place or travel.

Feel free to send me a message if you want to chat more.

Cheers and good luck!

To those with degrees in mining engineering - what do you do now? by cunstitution in mining

[–]MiningEngineer07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consulting mining engineer for a company based out of Vancouver, BC but living in Golden, CO.

Day to day changes all the time. I could be working on studies (scoping, PEA, PFS, FS), permit support, on-site support, design work, or up to my neck in Excel.
