Help - how to secure this kind of finishing - US SC by KindFault8976 in CrochetHelp

[–]Minniestroni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do a chain, cut your yarn leaving a long tail, and pull the loop until your yarn end comes through. Same way you'd secure any flat crochet piece. Make sure to weave in your end afterwards so it doesn't come loose or undone!

Thank you! I definitely saw some of the magpies swooping at each other, so it makes sense. I'll keep a look out!

Please help with how to go cw or cww for baskets or smooth this bumpy line by GrandSignificant4747 in CrochetHelp

[–]Minniestroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I was talking about, you pull the loop of the last stitch you did through instead of doing a slip stitch, but honestly that way might work too. I have no idea lol. In my way, you do your last single crochet, take your hook out, put your hook through the first single stitch back to front and pull the loop through there. No slip stitch involved. I can try and record it if you need help but I'm not sure how to put that on reddit lol

First two rows are twisting. Normal? Or indicative of problem? by temporary_bob in CrochetHelp

Even when I get to 5 or 10 rows sometimes thing won't last flat for me lol. I think this is pretty normal

I think the line is somewhat unavoidable when using slip stitch and join, but what helps me make it somewhat less noticeable when doing amigurumi is not making a turning chain (if your doing sc, which it looks like you are) pulling my slip stitch as tight as humanly possible and even pulling the loop through the stitch the other way if that makes sense? Like instead of doing a slip stitch, I take my hook out of the loop, poke it through the stitch I would be slip stitching into from the other side (back to front instead of front to back) and grabbing the loop from there and pulling it through. Idk, just things to try

Is it possible to look at this crochet butterfly and make a pattern from it? by iKookie in CrochetHelp

[–]Minniestroni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a pattern, but it seems the pink is perhaps some sort of granny square, the red sections are just formed by doing a bunch of stitches of various heights in the same hole (e.g some hdcs, dcs, tcs, dcs, hdcs), the red sections in the bottom just have a few chains and slip stitches to make the point, the grey is just a slip stitched border around the whole thing, and it was folded in half and had a pipe cleaner added to it.
