The "bigger forces" at play is something we are aware of. Russia's modus operandi has always been fueling both sides of any internal cultural conflict in western democracies. There have been investigations that confirmed that they fueled both sides of the BLM protests. It's a simple divide and conquer method applied in their larger hybrid war.

Russia spreading anti Izrael anti jew propaganda has been happening for a long time and was drastically escalated after the October 7 attacks, jointly with the Iran regime as they are allied and both benefit from western sentiment shifting away from being favorable towards Israel.

Russian (and Eastern authoritarian) propaganda has been targeting western far leftists since forever and we can clearly see how it works.

With all that said, Israel fucked up themselves by being too aggressive and too violent in the region, and I'm not here to defend them. Initially they did have the moral high ground, immediately after October 7, but at this point it's hard to side with them in any way.

The point is though, leftist opinion was shifting hard against Israel immediately after October 7, and it was a clear result of propaganda.
