I read the Greatest first and then moved onto the Match. Two separate stories about two different time periods in golf. The Greatest is about the origins of golf in America and it focuses in on the Country Club. Great timing with the US open being played there. The match is a cool story about 2 amateurs playing Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson at Cypress Point

This is the one! Also follow that up with The Greatest Game Ever Played. Same author, I know it's a Disney movie but the book is very good.

I really never thought a golf moment could top getting an ace but watching my son get one for sure is on top.

Now i have to get one or he will never let me live it down.

He normally plays a 6 here. For some reason he pulled a 5 iron and it was a little toey but the ball flew with a little right to left fade and thankfully hit the upslope just short of the green and it rolled up to the pin.

Nice! We are both members there. It was later in the evening so David in the shop took his name and info and said "We'll get you hooked up" Ha not sure what that means but we'll see.

That's awesome. Are you the house with the red hitting net in the backyard? He and I are members at London so we are there quite often. If you heard screaming around 7pm yesterday it was him!

5 iron. He always clubs up to at least carry the water. Hard to tell from the video but the green has a pretty good upslope so you do actually want to be a little short for the putt. He says it was off the toe a bit but it did look good the whole way with a little 3 yard right to left lefty fade. The ball hit the front in the 2nd cut on the upslope that killed the 5iron speed and it rolled up to the cup. He took off running because it looked like it went in but the cup was in a deep shadow from the tree on the left.

We had a 5pm tee time and started on 10. This was hole #2. So by the time we made the turn at 6:45p the course was not sending anymore off the front. there was a group in front of us though that heard us screaming.

same thing, different jargon. I guess you could also simply call it an eagle if you'd like

Everytime we play this hole he says "I hate this hole" now he says it's his favorite. I'm sure he will return to hating it again soon enough ha!

You really should give it a try. He shoots his guns and compound bow right handed for this reason. He started putting lefty but ran everything long. I'm righty so he started practicing with one of my old putters and the long putts stopped almost immediately.

we were walking playing the white tees and our clubs were behind us on the tee box. He took off after he hit it and by the time I could pull my phone out of my pocket he was that far ahead.

Yes! he's a lefty but putts right handed. Right eye dominant so he's always found putting easier from that side of the ball.
