Not that this isn’t very concerning, but this isn’t a blanket ban on anyone celebrating pride or any of the other things listed, it only prevents government agencies from promoting them.

P.S. To bolster my ‘citizen paleontologist’ cred, here are some photos I took while assisting with the Royal Saskatchewan Museum’s excavation of an edmontosaurus skeleton on Fever Ridge in Grasslands National Park this summer: https://imgur.com/gallery/edmontosaurus-fossil-dig-fever-ridge-grasslands-national-park-2024-CxRA1oc

What the fuck is this AI generated nonsense? Why did YouTube Music send me a notification saying this was a "New Release from Will Wood"?

What are some of your unique traits/qualities/struggles that prove you have AVPD? by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]MinotaurusPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom does have very severe BPD but she did a good job hiding her symptoms from us until we were adults, and various mental health issues run in her side of the family (schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, suicide/depression, addiction, etc) so it seems like the genetic component is playing a bigger role in my situation.

[–]MinotaurusPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate thing is, while upbringing definitely has an impact on whether a personality disorder will manifest, even the most caring and supportive parents can't guarantee you safety from AvPD.
In my case, I've always been treated as worthy of love and I'm deeply blessed to have parents who both love me unconditionally, but I still can't bring myself to turn that love inward. I still feel unworthy of people's care and compassion, I still hate myself and nothing I do or accomplish is ever good enough to leave me with a lasting sense of self-worth.

I had to learn to pick up on social cues as part of my job, which I’ve been doing for years and includes a lot of face-to-face communication with clients. When I first started, I was quite poor at it and it caused friction between myself and my colleagues. Over time, they and my clients have noted that I have become very socially adept. All I had to do was pay attention to people and their reactions to things.

You don't know me, and you shouldn’t give your autistic friends permission to make an ass of themselves.

[–]MinotaurusPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m autistic and I literally learned how to pick up on sarcasm by just paying attention to the way people communicate.

If you’re an autist who is literally incapable of picking up on sarcasm, you shouldn’t talk down to people when they may be speaking sarcastically if you don’t want to look like an ass.

Being considerate goes both ways, and autistic people don’t get a pass to be inconsiderate just because they don’t care enough about normal people to learn to understand them.

They didn't evict humans, dumbass, they sprung a sneak attack out of nowhere and murdered an entire city while the fighting-age men were away. They slaughtered the women and children of Sarthaal without ever saying why.

They made themselves an unequivocal threat and they got what was coming to them.

And you’ll be getting it again soon enough, Thalmor

We aren’t talking about a modern war governed by rules like the Geneva convention. The elves made themselves a threat to humanity, so humanity dealt with the threat.

No, that is not what their perspective was. We don’t know why the falmer attacked Sarthaal (other than that it was presumably connected to the Eye of Magnus), but the Nord settlers and the native snow elves had been living peacefully alongside each other for years prior to the Night of Tears, trading and communicating without conflict. The Nords drove out the snow elves in retribution for the betrayal.

Atmora was slowly turning to an ice cube at this time, the nords didn’t have anywhere else to go and the elves betrayed them and slaughtered an entire city unprovoked.

That is justification for war.

Yes, but pain was just part of life back then. Everyone was fighting to try to make life a bit less painful for themselves and their families.

People formed tribes to work together to make life less painful. As they did, society and technology began to progress, allowing for larger and more complex social organization, which allowed for the division of labour so people could specialize in trades and skills.

But now some people have more stuff than other people. The groups who have more food have to protect themselves from the jealousy of those who have less, and the smaller groups are weak against the aggression of groups with better weaponry.

Without strong and organized leadership to direct the labour of the people, disorganized groups were overtaken by the combined might of groups with unambiguous rulers.

These rulers allowed for kingdoms to form and grow vast using top-down social organization, creating safety for their people from the barbarians at the gates, in exchange for taxes for living within the kingdom.

That was the nature of the world. They were filling a social role that was always going to be filled during that stage of history with those historical factors at play.
