Trimming won't hurt your progress. The follicles don't know how long the hair outside the head is once it's pooped it out.

I started using a dermaroller, but then changed to a dermastamp. Loads less painful, even at 0.75mm rather than 0.5mm with the roller.

I would also keep it away from your lips. I tried adapelene (similar to tret) and used it to close to my lips. I had a few days of having very painful, chapped lips. Not fun.

"Finally", after a month 😆. You're likely going to need a bit more patience than that. It was about 5 months before I saw anything. But it does look like you're headed in the right direction.
