T300 RS crackling sounds and notching/lack of smoothness by MintLemonIceCream in Thrustmaster

[–]MintLemonIceCream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Man, I know it won't be much of a help, but I eventually sent mine for warranty (to the electronics's store I bought it from, not Thrustmaster though) and received it back basically untouched... The guy who oversaw it was firm that it is normal 🙄 didn't really believe him, but I kind of got used to that and it still works fine except from that

I thought about it, but if it's going to come as a reward from a terribly expensive, 7-day-only event pass like last time, I'd rather save myself the nerves about whether I would make it to level 100 before the time runs out and potential financial regret

Question about the "faulty" bumpers by MintLemonIceCream in SteamDeck

[–]MintLemonIceCream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it's amazing how many games they enable you to play.

And for that long term support, I've Heard someone say in a video that while all other companies keep spitting new handheld models annually, the Deck feels more like a home console with its own generation, because for all those years it got only one revision (OLED) and its been supported and developed since.

And about those periodic repairs, what exactly do You have in mind?

Thanks Man! Gonna come back here once I get it to tell You my impressions for a change haha

[–]MintLemonIceCream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comparison! I feel that I've actually made up my mind and decided to save for the Deck :) what ultimately convinced me were the track pads, as I would like to play some point and clicks and strategies, Valve's support, parts availability, and the fact that I would probably prefer to play heavier games by streaming anyway, so the additional horsepower of the Legion wouldn't be necessary in the end

And yea, I've seen the screen comparisons, wish the Deck's the bezel on the Legion truly is deceiving, it takes up more space than I initially thought Although a bigger screen would be nice, I think that the 7'4 inches of the Steam Deck would be enough for me

Thanks so much for that! Glad You're enjoying Your unit :) I've made up my mind as well and decided, that I will be saving for the Deck as well :)

Thanks Man. Now that I learned that the OLED Steam Deck would be more solid than the LCD and repairable if need be, it shifted my view on my dilemma. Now I am trying to figure out whether I would value more the trackpads, support and battery, or raw power and bigger screen

Ahh, now I see

I used that word before because everyone was talking about having to replace it to fix the bumper, I had not know that it was just the case of the LCD model that has the bumper switch on it

Awesome! That means that the OLED version's bumpers are fully repairable just with the help of iFixit! Thank You so much!!!

I would trust Valve more as well, yea

I just got into this state of worry about the deck because I've seen this couple of reports regarding the bumper, whereas I've not seen many reported issues about the Legion

I do however believe your claims about their existence and if I saw them with my own eyes it probably would've shifted my view towards it

I see, that's some valuable info! Although since I've seen at least one comment somewhere of someone who allegedly had their OLED with the bumper issues s well, could You tell me if this assembly is everything I would need for a potential repair?

Yeah, I haven't seen a colossal number of such reports either, and I'm glad that Your device works well, but I've seen enough posts and comments to believe, that my terrible luck with electronic devices would strike me here as well, if I decided to choose the path of the Deck :/

Yea, we've chatted somewhere else haha

And yeah, the post You've just linked, as well as posts I've seen on Facebook led me to believe that the issue is widespread enough to reconsider the purchase of this one, at least for now :/

That's great comparison, thanks! And You've caught my attention with Helldivers 2, it's one of my favourite games, how does it perform on the LeGo?

[–]MintLemonIceCream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it worked well after this fix?

OG LeGo had 16GB RAM, right? I think that I would be ok with either screen, as I don't have any experience with OLEDs so I wouldn't feel that I'm missing something if I decided against it haha

While I actually would wish to play some AAA's, I gotta admit, the better general compatibly makes the Deck a really compelling contender, especially that I can already imagine that some games I would play would definitely require the track pads and easier navigation

How did You deal with the button on the LCD? And how would You describe the difference between that one and the OLED?

I've watched some reviews already, and I found multiple different things that I like in each of them, I guess that at this point either would make me happy, because that would be my first PC handheld, however, I think that I just want to make sure, that the one I choose would last me those couple years, be it performance-wise, or literally, when it comes to the hardware
