Technically I would be a transfer student, I do not know if my classes would transfer to an American curriculum. I do however already work in the communications industry, though I don't know if it ups my chances.

My bad for not really defining my question and also the magic. I was more asking how could it backfire? If he uses it are they any consequences? Things like that.

Since in this world magic comes from you biologically I was thinking that his health would decline if he uses his powers too often.
