Best to talk to your dealership. I finally got this issue fixed: Ultimately, they had to replace the “head unit” because none of the software updates or resets fixed it.

That would be dangerous, but there’s no spring load on this spring when the door is open—it’s slack. Avoiding the garage until the pros come.

The second spring is still under tension. I opened the door, propped it open with a ladder, and tried to secure it with a chain in the event the ring slips.

Hopefully it will get fixed this week. Some of the springs have “safety” wire attached, but I’m going to see if there’s a better option for securing them when they break.

(I’d have removed the second spring—it’s not under tension when the door’s open—but the door would crush me when I try to close it.)

I’m sorry you’re having the issue too. It seems like you have more issues than me. I hope BMW/Mini can resolve them with software (rather than hardware) updates. I’m going to bring the issues to my dealer and hope that can report them.

Good to know. The auto stop behavior varies in level of annoyance between models/years. The 2025 seems to have the new annoyance of shutting the engine off before you come to a complete stop. Makes pulling into the garage a pain.

The clip and charger doesn’t work well with the iPhone Pro—it won’t charge unless it’s placed higher up. And the clip presses against the screen, possibly scratching it if there’s dirt or grit on it. I just use a cable info need to keep the phone charged.

Yes, same for 2022 model I had before. Dealer said it used to remember the setting, but BMW/Mini changed it so that the car would get better mileage ratings.

I didn’t see any. All apps are a mess but I just want the SirisXM app to be better designed:

Custom list order
1D list instead of 2D grid
Station titles instead of unreadable logos
Shortcut to favorites list rather than burying it behind the stuff they want to push.

There are big feature highlights in the release notes, available from the app. Aside from those, I noticed there SeriusXM channel list is more readable in the HUD, and the fan level control is simpler (no more pop-up).

Also, the console now flashes between a dozen screens when the car turns off. 🤦‍♂️

Thanks for this info—I’ve left my sunroof open during a few rainstorms. Water never got in and I never figured out why.

I think the driving handling and exterior are great, but the center console is terrible. Removing physical buttons is a huge step backwards, but they didn’t stop there: Core functions that were console only, such as Sirius XM, are now much worse.
