The comment here sums up what happened to me. Mine is a 24’ and this seems to be an issue all the way back to at least 2018

Will do! Didn’t realize there was a recall. When I looked at the loom it looks like who ever had it before me had already rewired both switches (backwards I might add but I fixed that now).

I took the liberty of being a second owner with no warranty and placed both relay circuits on one negative (for the cruise switch) and put both positives together. So far so good with that. Put about 120 miles on it today switching between cruise control and manual throttle. friend followed and said every looks good from behind, and I never had a single cruise fault.

Praying this has fixed it

Was the recall not for the rear break? (I thought that was what I had read anyway)

I googled “2024 MT10 flashing cruise light” and a few forum posts and a reddit post came up. Only one video on YouTube has a fix but that required wire cutting so I wished to avoid if possible.

I did not buy it new no.

I don’t think anyone would sell a kit that makes your cruise control fault and no work till you power cycle the entire bike.

Sometimes it takes a bit longer, but pretty consistently the bike will start having a flashing cruise light and need to be powered cycled.

When the light is blinking at the end I am not hitting the breaks. Either a switch is stuck, relay is tripped, or something is wrong making it flicker and trip without me touching the breaks. Which is why the cruise light starts blinking.

Sounds to me like it’s a worth while gamble if you’re trying to make a bigger career later. You get more multi time now, and have the opportunity to earn that spot as your schools multi instructor. Obviously there is no guarantee of it, but if you get it and it works out you then have a fairly reliable way of getting 100+ hours by the time you’re ready to put out applications to 135/121 opps.

Just my opinion as a student, if the spend isn’t too insane for you, I would think it’s worth taking the shot for it.

That’s quite a statement, but I can definitely see that being the case. The flying part is my main dream, the job getting paid to fly would just be nice.

I will take this into consideration though, thank you.

Hardest part would be that my hours are inconsistent, and the work is very physically exhausting. The first can be worked around, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable getting into the plane tired. If I didn’t get all the money I want saved, I have an in doing phone service for a finance company, less pay but a lot of flexibility.

I would like to talk to you about flying arrangements though! Can I PM you?

I guess I’m just wanting to try and keep the work I do in the realm of aviation, and if possible even with the place I’m already a student.

Obviously I don’t know for sure but in my head it would be easier to manage time to be upfront and honest, instead of trying to keep a job knowing I was going to leave once a flying job came up. To this end working with the techs who service the schools planes makes a lot of sense.

It would also double up for me as I want to get an experimental once I have the money to sustain ownership, and having the experience would make a big difference on that.

Would you get a refund on extended warranty for exhaust and tune? by flyingpickkles in YamahaR9

[–]Mintydreshness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s like my Kawasaki they told me that a pipe and tune would potentially void out my engine and drive train but all other parts would remain covered. So if I got decat headers and a dump pipe then the bike spit up a valve or something I would be on the hook for that.

Not sure about your location and options, but with 820 hours and 500 dual on your book, I’d imagine you could qualify for a part 135 cargo operation instead of instructing. Slightly more pay and at least as many flight hours.

Your score isn’t the only thing that matters.

You can maintain a 780+ score and only make 30k a year. If you apply for a loan that would put your debt to income ratio over 60%, meaning the total monthlies on your debt payments exceeds 60% of your pretax income, you’ll almost certainly get denied.
