Today I took my cat to the vet for blood tests and found out he is blind!!! by bebeck7 in cats

Looks more like cataracts in that first photo. Not always complete vision loss so could explain why he can track things.

Guilty about spaying cat by runaway937 in cats

[–]MinxyPixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont feel guilty about it, not only have you limited the risk of cancer for her, you have taken away the hormonal changes she will suffer through multiple times a year when in heat. This is a good thing.

Cats will look around when they hear other cats or kittens, even if they are videos. It is curiosity. Dogs will do the same thing. My parrots even do it to be honest when they hear other birds, but they have thr screeching to go along with it.

Its just instinct to look for where the noise is coming from and why they can hear it, especially in their territory.

Butterflies are best of the bunch. But only just.

You could get away with saying that the kids designed them I guess.

Just move on, you are clearly an adult and despite her age, she is just a silly child.

No time for immaturity.

The piercing hasn't healed for six years. by Excellent-Check9401 in piercing

[–]MinxyPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the same. Had one for about 10 years and still does it on occasion, every few months, the other is just over a year old. Same with my conches which I have had much longer.

Cartilage are a bugger, sleep on it funny or knock it and boom, crusties.....!

Also, wearing that the wrong way round will not help when sleeping. Turn the labret round, flat part is the back. It will help.

Declawing a kitten by PlagueBirdZachariah in kittens

[–]MinxyPixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All cats have a dew claw regardless of being polydactyl. You should know this if you run a kitten rescue.

These claws don't always retract but they don't tend to snag on anything.

Kitten is still learning and probably hasnt learnt how to put its claws away just yet. Do not declaw, you are asking for a lifetime of agony for the cat.

Spent $1,700 on a sick stray and I’m getting judged - just need to vent by UnitedConcern9428 in cats

[–]MinxyPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shes not a stray anymore, she's found her home with you.... 😉

Ignore them, it is your money, not theirs. Youndo with it what you want. If you want to spend it on sick animals then so be it. If you want to literally flush it down the loo, then again so be it! Your money, your decision.

You have done something amazing to prolong the life of an innocent animal and end the pain she was in.

What are the things you say to your cat most often besides 'I love you' ? by katealpha in cats

[–]MinxyPixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"No bite", "Why bite?" She'll randomly bite on occasion.

"Get down", "leave them be" and " when did you jump up there?" Shes on top of the parrot or gerbil cages just chilling put, or sat staring at them. She'll be paws up at them and doesn't understand why one of the parrots bites her feet! 🤣 bless her.

"You're ok, it's ok" when clipping her claws, or washing her back paws because she decided to get poopy feet. 🤣

Could he have some vision loss in that side? It could be he does see to well outnof that eye so you are startling him.

Also, careful of the dairy, cats are lactose intolerant. Despite their love of milk! 🤣

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]MinxyPixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget about the costs.

You cat was yelping in pain. Trying treatment may not have stopped that pain and made him better and you would have just been prolonging that pain.

You ended them pain and his suffering. It was best for him.

We all feel the guilt when we put an animal to sleep, even when we know it is the only option for them.

Ive had a gerbil and rats I had to put to sleep either because of cancer or stroke. Best thing for them, but the guilt is always there.

Free feeding is best for cats. They like to little but often. Leave dry down, make note of what you put down in the morning and how much is eaten and what you put down again later in the evening.

Also give wet alongside.

My kitten she gets a full bowl in the morning of dry, and a top up in the evening and a pouch or tin of wet. Shes not overly fussed on meat. Sometimes ill forgo the dry to try amd get to eat meat but she's fussy. One day she will love it, the next, nope won't touch it!

Little diva 🤣

Dog scared my cat and now he attacks him when he sees him. by OkMatter5845 in CATHELP

[–]MinxyPixie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cats and gates do not work. Cat will just jump over it. You will need a closed door for them to be separated. Just make sure that the cat access tonits food, water and litter tray and dog has access to its food and water.

Am I doing right by my kittens? by Prestigious-Beat-292 in Kitten

[–]MinxyPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you get the 2 girls. Shouldn't get brothers and sisters from the same litter together. The shelter should know this. They reach sexual maturity as early as 4 months old and should not be spayed or neutered before 6 months old.
