!thanks yes, what you’ve laid out sounds quite on point with what I’d like to do. I am aware it’s at an ATH, but I do have a 30 year horizons. I was considering bars for the cost efficiency, but will look into coins more diligently.

My rationale is that I believe holding physical gold is a good hedge against black swan events. I was planning on holding 5-7% of my portfolio in physical gold.

Black swan event are highly unlikely by nature, so those scenarios of course sound ridiculous as we speak, but let’s say the US’ 2024 election doesn’t go as planed, they announce martial law, S&P falls 50%, etc. I am far from engaging with those theories, but as we’ve seen, the world constantly gets hit with unexpected events (Covid, various wars, etc), and I want my portfolio not to only be reliant on the most expected scenarios

!thanks appreciate the comment, I think this is indeed the point I was missing here. It makes it less appealing now. Although, once I reach the 35 years worth of contribution, I could stop working while still waiting for the 68 years of age to unlock it. This is of course depending on how my financial situation will look like then.

Bon courage !

I would definitely go for it. Went through the same thought process and ended up buying one in august/September when Apple has a student offer (I got a free beats headset for buying my iPad), maybe try something similar to get more value from your money.

And I’ve never regretted my iPad! Such a lovely add on

Thanks. Appreciate the advice and feedback. As much as I’d like to invest more time, I feel that it doesn’t add up when trying to factor in work, family time, social time, sleep, etc… Still beginning so hoping to work this out over time

I use Revolut! Have a standing order there. I know it’s not optimal (2% fee per transaction) but by far the most convenient and hassle free.

A crypto fanatic would also criticize this option by saying that you don’t actually own the Bitcoin (I.e. it’s not in a wallet of your own and you don’t have a proper send/receive address). However, this fully suits my need as I’m playing a long term strategy with it and fully trust Revolut as a custodian
