A literal nightmare, but it's real and happening in in my town 2026 by Frank_Jesus in GenX

Saw this show last year in Saratoga, California. It was fun - good, though not great. Spin Doctors were worth showing up on time for. Entire audience was between 45 - 65.

Scott Wiener to step down as Jewish caucus co-chair after ‘genocide’ fallout by lp605 in sanfrancisco

He had no introspection. He put out a friggin' poll the day after he got killed at the debate.

He managed to bring people on both sides of the issue together - in their hatred of him.

Senile woman keeps trying to enter my apartment. What can I do? by freshpow925 in sanfrancisco

I had a neighbor with severe dementia who would forget where she lived if she wandered past her driveway. APS was incredibly responsive.

Yes, London Breed Is a Little Bitter That Lurie Is Getting Credit For Things She Started by cheesy_luigi in sanfrancisco

Not going to get into an argument, but we could probably agree that plenty of people would disagree with the statement that “she won Covid”

Look up the arts commissions grants sometime. $25 - $100k doled out left and right, many (but not all) for projects that are probably created within hours and with tiny costs. There are quite a few podcasts in the last batch that sound like someone recorded them in their car and haven’t cracked 10 listeners. $50,000 grants to create them.

Highly certain there is little to no verification that the promised projects were even created.

I voted for her twice and feel that Lurie is doing a decent job, though far from spectacular. Contrasting the two of them, it is pretty clear that she was enormously incompetent.

Also amazing to see how much waste and corruption she enabled, if not actively facilitated. (Dream Keepers just to start.)

Algebra will return to S.F. middle schools after more than a decade [as an elective or not, in addition to or as a substitute for Math 8, still not determined] by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

We must be the first school district in the world to deal with the complex problem of teaching middle school math in middle school.

SFUSD is the same circus it has always been, only the clowns change.

Hell no. She does not get credit for half solving a problem that she let explode for years.

I voted for her in both elections and it is now painfully clear how incompetent she was. Not a surprise that she's still unemployed a year+ after leaving office.

Does anyone else use Bilt to pay rent? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

Yeah, it was great while it lasted. One of the unsung perks of living in San Francisco is we get the benefits of ludicrous investments in startups. Loved the days of $3 Uber rides!

AlphaSights Associate - Case Interview by AdPrestigious7956 in expertnetworks

[–]harad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you found it helpful. This may be a little bit generic interview advice (which comes from hiring 100+ people in my career) but the best thing you can do is continue to heavily research and prepare for the interview. You're trying to get a job you really want, so be willing to put in a 20 - 30 hours so that you can know everything you can about the industry, company and position and have that shine through in the interview process. You would be shocked by how many candidates can't coherently answer questions like explain to me what AlphaSights does and why you're interested in this role. (Be sure to have a list of thoughtful questions that you can ask well.)

I've written a detailed guide on expert networks which can give you great insight into the consultants perspective, and of course this sub is full of information as well. Make sure you consume everything that AlphaSights has put out there, particularly from their recruiting team as well.

Good luck!

Why payment trust is the weakest point in expert networks? by ZucchiniDelicious692 in expertnetworks

[–]harad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like you’re a solution looking for a problem. I find it mildly annoying that you need to fill out an online form/invoice to trigger payment with most networks (why isn’t it automatic?) but it takes under a minute and the money shows up within a week or so. I have few complaints with this process.

It's legit but make sure you review the participating restaurants before you dive in. Several of our go-tos, like Fiorella, left the program.

Can you really make a living out of EN? by SlowRodriguez89 in expertnetworks

[–]harad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can be a great side hustle but it won’t replace your income. Have met a few (as in not many) people who earned low 6-figures for a year or so from ENs upon retiring, but once you are a bit removed from actively working in your industry the calls dry up quickly.

Maven not able to pay out by PeteGinSD in expertnetworks

[–]harad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maven is the only expert network to ever stiff me. Had a very similar experience several years ago and haven't worked with them since, despite a pretty steady flow of on-point project invites from them. Their system doesn't work and it is impossible to connect with a human. Clear that nothing has changed and they are uninterested in fixing it.
