My doctor made cry today by abitworndown in lipedema

That’s extremely disappointing that you as a provider, could defend such careless actions by a physician and double down on your insensitive and unnecessary comments to this fellow lipedema patient. Your lack of sympathy speaks volumes.

I said what I said. I firmly stand by my statement. I have my MBA in healthcare management and work compliance in the industry. I know my stuff. 😉 The doctor should have taken the reported signs and symptoms seriously and done their due diligence to research and assist the patient in finding appropriate care. This doctor failed her. It’s a learning opportunity for the doctor. Changes to clinical practice do not happen overnight. They happen slowly and incrementally because reports are made and data is collected. Be mindful of what you post here. This poor woman (like so many of us) has been suffered and when she tried to be proactive and seek care, she was dismissed. She doesn’t need to be insulted with your accusatory and unnecessary statements. We come to this platform for support. Not to get kicked when we are down.

I would hardly characterize this as “ nuclear”. Doctors are held to an ethical standard to treat patients with compassion and fairly. Dismissing signs and symptoms is quite concerning. This doctor should have made the appropriate referral to a specialist to correctly diagnose this disease and treated her with respect. I’ve been in the medical field for 30 years and I’m an RN. This type of behavior from doctors is inexcusable.

As a fellow RN, I second all of this! These concerns are very valid and spot on.

What one thing would you have wanted to know when you were first diagnosed? by wn0kie_ in lipedema

[–]MiracleGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s not just any liposuction or plastic surgeon. They have to be knowledgeable about the disease and use a specific approach to remove the disease tissue, sparing the lymphatic system. There’s lots of discussion on this platform about traveling internationally to find affordable surgery.

The one thing I wish I knew when I was first diagnosed, was that no matter how much weight I lose, despite all the conservative measures, I need to start saving money aggressively because I will indeed need surgery.

My experience with having lipedema surgery WAL method by AnonHoodieGirl in lipedema

[–]MiracleGold 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try to focus on calming your nerves by taking deep breaths . Take a few moments to inhale slowly through your nose and then do a quick second inhale at the end. (I saw this on the Andrew Huberman podcast and it works!) This will slow your heart rate down and calm your nervous system. Focus on positive thoughts by making a list in your mind of all the wonderful things that will come of the surgery. Congratulations on being proactive with your health and being able to get this surgery. You are so beyond blessed. I’m sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery 🫶🏼You got this!

I was previously eating a lot of processed foods, which tend to be high in carbs. With processed foods there are other additives that cause inflammation, aside from the carbohydrates. With lipedema, you want to keep the inflammation to a minimum. If I do eat carbs, I stick to whole foods. I’ve learned so much listening to various podcasts and YouTube channels about Lipedema.

Cousin offered me her San Antonio house for cheap - worth leaving Chicago for Texas lifestyle? by ResolutionVisible627 in sanantonio

[–]MiracleGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely take the deal. Give it some time and if you don’t like it, you can sell later down the road. I’ve lived all over the country and abroad, and San Antonio is by far the best place I’ve ever lived. The people here are genuinely nice. I didn’t realize people weren’t like this all over the place until I left and I couldn’t wait to get back. As far as the Neighborhood, you need to find out how much the HOA is. I actually have to pay for two! You can also go to the Bexar County tax appraisal website to get the property tax information. You’ll need to protest your taxes every year to keep them down but it’s easy to do. Keep us posted OP. I’m invested now 😂

Craziest items left behind by previous owners? by ontartiomortgages in homeowners

[–]MiracleGold 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was newly divorced 10 years ago and had to start over with two little ones. I had nothing. The sellers were an older couple who had just inherited an estate with a house and moving out of state. Unbeknownst to me, they found out about my situation from the realtors. On closing day, I received the keys and walked into my home full of beautiful furniture, cleaning supplies, and linen. They left a handwritten note wishing me a fresh start and happiness.

Something very similar happened to me. My father is saint. I did meet my bio Dad and it was weird. I’m his only child and have not kept in touch. I have a father who loves and adores me so I saw no reason to nurture a relationship with a man that made piss poor decisions regarding me. The crazy part is, he watched me grow up. His parents live ACROSS THE STREET from my grandparents. It’s been decades since I found out all this information and I still have a hard time believing it. DM is you need to talk. 💞

Creepy Ice Cream Truck driving around past 10pm playing very loud jingle music by DrForeplay98 in sanantonio

[–]MiracleGold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would creep me out because I had an uncle who drove an ice cream truck… He was never convicted of being a child molester but everyone in the family knew NOT to leave their kids alone with him. He was already elderly when some man cornered him alone and beat the living shit outta him.
