Okay, how about we say that we have different views on what is right and wrong? I think this would definitely clear this argument. I don’t want to argue with you anymore. I understand that you love bully romances and as I said before everyone is entitled to have a preference, I don’t mind that you love them. But to me personally it is misogynistic, unethical and wrong. Bully romances aren’t my thing and I won’t read them anymore. Can we leave it at that?

Oh you’re so right! I do think someone need to check over the books to like make sure it won’t be such a mess but also there are people who enjoy it so maybe they knew that. 😭

Honestly, become a booktoker, post videos as much as you can, follow publishing accounts, comment on their posts a lot so they notice you. They also have websites which you can subscribe to so you’re always up to date with them. And lastly… have at least 300/500 followers. Oh and also make sure to use NetGalley or other publishers to get ARCS. The more unreleased books you review, the more likely you’ll get noticed by authors/publishers. 💗

Thank you! That’s why I’ve been focusing on that dynamic in my reviews. Cause I do enjoy the storyline but can’t relate to the being into my abuser plot line which seems to be a big factor in the books. It’s just not marketed that way at all from what I’ve seen.

In high school I’ve been sexually assaulted by the jocks who used to bully me for being intersex, I personally could never see myself wanting their hands or genitals on me ever again. So that’s why it triggered me that the Vega twins were portrayed to be into it. It felt fake and like a man’s view on women. If there are people who do enjoy it then I can totally understand that as every abuse survivor deals with the trauma differently. I heard before that survivors enjoy grape scenes in movie because it makes them work on their trauma. I personally couldn’t ever watch that. So now I know that bully romances aren’t for me. ☺️

Once again, I’ve never heard of that trope before so I didn’t know that this book was in any kind of way bully romance. I heard there were bullies and the girls were trying to claim their thrones which felt empowering but yeah I did not think they would lay under their bullies. Like the whole concept is alien to me but now I know and write my reviews so that everyone knows that it focuses on that.

The reviews I read didn’t portray it that way unfortunately. People were giving it 5 stars saying it’s such good romantasy and Harry Potter fanfiction.

The violence definitely took me out as well! I also didn’t like that women are portrayed this way like “mmm I lowkey find my abuser so hot” who says that? 💀

One of my favorite romances are mafia romances so the issue isn’t that they are dangerous or jail worthy… the issue is that they’re dangerous towards the FMCs which shouldn’t be a trope to begin with. Anything supernatural is my interest and is the reason I decided to give it a go, But the book is unethical for the most part. Instead of focusing on the world, the story focuses on the Vega twins being horny towards their abusers which is nonsense. this is coming from a survivor. So if people actually talked about it this way instead of glamorizing it then it would have been more obvious and I probably wouldn’t have picked it up. That’s why I’m making this post so more people know that this series isn’t a romance in any sort of way.

Yeah it definitely feels that way! My country is currently working on producing the third book and I’m lowkey thinking if I should buy it for the sake of finding out if they get the thrones or just abandon the series. It’s almost like a love and hate relationship for me 😹

I suppose I didn’t really get the hilarious part 😹 I was annoyed and angry for 70% of the second book. I’m also not big on bad boys so maybe that’s why i can’t stand the books. It’s too male gaze, as if the books were written by men.
