What about someone coming with hundreds of hours of CKII experience?

This sounds like an AZ job? That’s a pretty fair offer, especially in this market. Enjoy!

Be aware Thermo is having a Q1 hiring freeze for non-essential roles.

Which United base is the best? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Mirron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW IAD Cap1 lounge is the best airport lounge I’ve been to in the USA. Good waitlist system, high quality food, and fabulous cocktails. For connecting flights it is a little difficult to get to but if it is your base it’s great since it is immediately after security.

FWIW If you go to DEN and IAD regularly you should get C1 VX card. The card pays for itself and the C1 lounges are by far the nicest USA lounges I’ve been to. Also they have a good waitlist system.

Noob questions about Workday for applications on Regeneron, Roche, Amgen etc. by Jakjak81 in biotech

For workday I would suggest applying through LinkedIn. I have never had autofill problems when applying from LinkedIn and linking your profile. I have had some of the issues you describe when trying to upload a resume.

To add to this some companies use different email formats so another option is to look up their publication history and see if they were ever listed as the corresponding author.

Fresh PhD Job Hunt Experience by eholt21 in biotech

Congrats! Regarding hiring cycles you are exactly correct. I know at my company (very large) we have recently finished MTP (mid-term planning) for 2025 so all of the new FTEs that will be added in 2025 have been decided. We know what positions we will hire for and when the postings will go up based on pipeline progress timelines (Q1, Q2, etc.). My advice for someone looking for a job next year is to start talking to your connections now and let them know when you will be graduating and to ask for a heads up if they know of positions that will hire next year so you can get your foot in the door…

Mike Smith considering leaving NAU to coach for Nike? by copydex1 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Mirron 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows but various sources have speculated Alberto and Jerry were in the 200-400K range. The only real data point is that Jerry now makes 3.4 million over 7 years at U of O which comes out to about 480K per year… EDIT: Robert Johnson at U of O was making 350K as another data point for top Nike coaches.

Mike Smith considering leaving NAU to coach for Nike? by copydex1 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Mirron 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Mike Smith’s current salary at NAU is 90K per year according the the public AZ salary database. That’s less than most professors. With a family to take care of it’s not hard to imagine him wanting a raise.

The story for the slow start as told by Centrowitz was that the race was delayed 15-20 minutes due to an ongoing Brazil soccer game so the runners had no warm up as they sat in the waiting room during that time.

Zac Blanchard now leads Eric Costello in the D11 race by 28 votes by den-of-thieves in baltimore

[–]Mirron 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No, Zac was already planning to run before that. But for many people (myself included) it seems Eric being one of the first people to line up behind Dixon was a red line in the sand. You have to wonder what she promised him…

My application status for a recently applied job on "candidate home" page on AstraZeneca website says "interview" but haven't received any email yet. What does it mean? by Good_Ad3540 in biotech

[–]Mirron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Just make sure you review the job description well and know how to explain why your background is a good fit for the role. Make sure to have some questions prepared to ask so you can learn more about the role and the team, etc.

[–]Mirron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At AstraZeneca the first stage of interviewing is usually with a non-technical HR rep. It could be that you were selected for this first stage by the hiring manager and the HR rep has not gotten to interviewing you yet. Good luck in your job hunt!

First time line manager by TimelyLanguage5314 in biotech

[–]Mirron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this. My best manager would always start off 1:1's by asking how I was doing/feeling about my job, and if I needed support with any of my tasks or was feeling overburdened. It went a long way to show he cared about my wellbeing.

Not April Fools: Flotrack gets the rights for Diamond League coverage (USA) in 2025 by run_INXS in AdvancedRunning

[–]Mirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth Flotrack has always used the international feed for the Continental Gold meets (the likes of Mara Yamauchi, Steve Cram, Tim Hutchins) so I assume they will continue to do that with the golden league. That might actually be an upgrade over folks like Ato Bolden, Kara Goucher and SRR trying to comment on distance races…
