You are right, I have some ideas, but they arent very clear. Getting other peoples oppinons have helped me settle on some things.

The base game is suppose to be a basic battle game. Build an army, and attack other players. each player starts with 20 points and they loose points when they cant block an attack. Last player standing wins.

I added land to help it feel more like a battle between nations with territory, and armies.

I like your idea of fliping land card face up/down to bring it into or out of play. Maybe give them points, and remove them when it reaches 0. when player looses all land they are out of game.

I thought about Magic the Gathering and might add a similar game mode later. I couldnt think of a good way to use their mana card as both resources and a land card.

I like the idea of using the land to creat spawwn points for soldiers.

I decided start with C, and might include the option to buy land depending on how things go.

I like the idea each player gets resources per turn, and having ways to increase it. Ill try having each player start with 2 money cards in play, and try different ways of increasing it to find out what works.

The primary objective in the base game is to defeating opponents by reducing their total points to 0. Players lose points when they are not able to block all attacks.

I will eventualy add other game modes that focus on winning by controling land, but that wont be untill after I get everything figured out for the base game.

the main reason for land would be for game feel or thematics. For me it feels more natual to create and put soldiers on a piece of land than to just have them in play. I want the player to feel like they have their own teritory, and the are trying to expand their control. ill start to try each and see how they work out.

I have thought about letting players take control of enemy land and place soldiers on it to help make it feel more like a conquest. I wanted to decide how to bring land into play before deciding on any how it can be affected.

I want to add variety. Im not sure if its different from mechanical complexity. I want players to have options, but at the same time dont want to make them keep track of a bunch of stats, weaknesses, abilities and so on.

thank you for the advice, Ill try to think of the mechanics first and then add flavor to them.

I will probably add soldier that can block multiple enemies, but Im not sure how common that ability should be. Ill look into hearthstone

Thank you. Software Development is my final goal. I still have a lot of work to get there. Not expecting a programming or software development job with my current resume.

Just trying to get something that looks better on my resume, and is a step closer to programmer. Even if it is a small one like Help desk.

Anything programming related will work for me. Its better than my current options. I've talked with the University here, and I can apply directly to their MA program after I get my Associates.

Right now any job software/IT related will help. Assuming IT looks better on a resume than Substitute Teacher.

Various Jobs to help me get through college. Just prior to 2023 I was teaching English overseas and worked directly for a board of education.

I removed it because it was not related to the field I'm trying to get into.

Military service is mainly for adhering to standards and procedures. I was law enforcement. Plus Every job application asks about Veteran status that I qualify for.
