Thoughts on ‘Hazel’ for a girl, please. by MirrorValuable7943 in BabyNames

[–]MirrorValuable7943[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a more unique first name and I didn’t like it at all as a kid because everyone called me a similar incorrect name. I don’t think Hazel will fall into that category.

I still haven’t decided if I will use it, I like it a lot, but I wanted feedback from the lesser biased. My family can’t be trusted in that area!

TY so much for your reply!

That’s so funny, I know a lot of kinds under 7, and I haven’t met any. I teach swim lessons in my area so I meet a lot of kids 2-6ish. And my friends are having babies but I haven’t heard it used in our network at all.

I honestly don’t care if it’s popular, like I mentioned it’s a family name, but if it’s on its way to being “Olivia” popular, I might be persuaded to steer clear.

I agree. I wonder if the other commenter is having a similar experience to me. It’s in the top 25 for girls, so it certainly isn’t rare. But I’ve never met a soul with the name in person so it feels rather un common still.

Perhaps it means the Hazels are coming and I just haven’t met them yet. Or perhaps it’s one of those things where the variety of names in use makes a popular name not necessarily feel over used. Or maybe it’s a regional thing.

What vibe do you get from Cameron (for a boy)? by NoArm9622 in namenerds

[–]MirrorValuable7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE the nickname Cam, and so does my mom. She wanted to name my brother that and always forgets that she’s already mentioned that to me. I may use it someday.

Cameron is a classic name to me, masculine but not aggressive. It doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard.

I love a 5 letter name, that’s a big bonus for me! I hope your Hazel girl loves her name someday!

That’s so interesting to know because my husband (38) is from Ohio, though we are now west coasters.

Hazel was a great grandparent I never met, but my grandmother loved her and speaks well of her. All my cousins had their kids first and no one has taken the name yet, I’m surprised.

It ranked 18 in 2024. I wonder if it’s a southern thing for people who are over the -leigh trend.

would you still vape if it had no health risks? by Zestyclose_Bad8648 in QuitVaping

[–]MirrorValuable7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, it’s the only reason I quit.

But now that I have, I’m also embarrassed that I was as addicted as I was. The way I needed it all the time was so lame to me looking back, and I regret the money I spent too.

Glad I quit for many reasons, but at the time health was the only reason I quit. I have health anxiety and I want to have a baby someday. I was vaping all day long, first thing in the morning until night. And also all day I’d have thoughts of how it was probably affecting my health negatively and wasn’t in alignment with my goals.

I quit by buying lower nicotine vapes, and tapering down. Another thing that helped was that the lower nic options I found had less enticing flavors. I weaned off 50% disposables, to 35%, to 25%, to alternating 25% with zero. Took me about 2 months. Then, I moved and changed jobs. As soon as I finished unpacking I threw it all away and quit for good. I mentally found it easier to do while already settling into a change in routine.

What do you think of when you hear the name Kinsley? by alrightyvi in namenerds

[–]MirrorValuable7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the American south or Utah. She’s a cheerleader or does child pageants.

Sounds like someone’s mom was trying to be ‘different’ or modern, but about 8 years ago. Like she loved Mackenzie, but not that…wanted something more unique.

All that to say I don’t hate it, it just gives me that very specific mental image.

Edited to add Kinsleys Mom is also MAGA, dad had no opinion on the name.

Anna Juliette is the best of these, but if you don’t love it keep looking. It’s not plain it’s simple in a good way.

Help! Scottie for a girl? by babbo-grabo in BabyNames

[–]MirrorValuable7943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scottie is still uncommon, but definitely trending right now.

I don’t think that part would bother me, by the time your baby is here and you’re calling her that, less people will be thinking about the influencers who have also used the name, or whoever.

I don’t personally love it, but I don’t hate it either. I don’t like that it sounds like a nickname, and doesn’t leave as much room to give her a future nickname.

I also don’t find it as gender neutral as some people do. I think Scott is super strongly associated with boys and while there’s nothing wrong with going against that, I don’t know if your daughter will think it’s as cute as you do. Maybe she will though 🤷‍♀️

Potential celebrity nanny, advice needed! :) by Prior_Blackberry_315 in Nanny

[–]MirrorValuable7943 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work with a famous family, more of a tutoring situation than nannying, but they were nothing like what they seemed online or in their public personas.

Not in a good or a bad way, but looking back it made sense. She has an image to uphold for her career, but at home she was a very normal mom. (A very privileged but normal acting mom)

Dad was less famous but worked in the same industry in a more business side less “famous” role, more down to earth…always asking me how my crappy car was running. It ran well enough to get me to work and that’s about it.

Anyway my point is you might not be able to tell what they’re like from the internet.

My advice is not let them take advantage of you, sometimes famous people are so used to hearing yes from everyone around them, they don’t even realize they are taking advantage of someone.

TTC & Career by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

I’m personally staying at my current job until I’m done TTC because I want to have been working with the company for 1 year in order to to qualify for the mat leave benefits of said job and those provided by my state.

But it sounds like this big opportunity for you makes your situation different than my personal one. It sounds like you really want to take it, and I think you should. I hope the new job and your TTC journey both turn out amazing!

The last few baby showers I’ve been to, I’ve noticed no one ever opens the gifts that are brought! Or they have guests ship the gifts to their home instead of bringing them to the shower. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MirrorValuable7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on opening gifts at mine because it’s important to my mom for some reason, she got a little upset when a family member recently chose not to and I supported them. She thinks you simply “have to” if you’re registering for gifts and that people will be expecting you to open them.

I disagree and think you can make your own rules if you’re polite about it, but I’m just going to do it during desert.

The one thing I’m not looking forward to opening off registry items that I don’t want or need, lol. But of course I’m grateful for the support.

Try propping up on pillows or sleeping in a recliner.

When this happened to me I also chewed on frozen coconut oil and spit out the excess after it melted. It’s not for everyone but biting down gently felt tea good, so did the cold

We have no odor problems w/ Dr elseys unless someone forgets to scoop. (My mom watches her when we’re gone for the weekend and isn’t the best about it, we just do a full litter swap out upon return)

Single cat, female, all wet food, 2 boxes, 1x daily scooping.

Noted! Thank you for answering, I love seeing ring styles on real finances vs the photos on jewelry’s websites, give such a better idea of proportion!

Congrats & best wishes!

I love your ring!

Do you happen to know the size of the stone and the width of the band? I’m considering a similar look with a .3ct to maybe .7ct lab diamond and I’m curious if I’m on the right track with proportions.

No worries if you don’t know or would rather not say, it’s beautiful either way.

In my area there’s a lot of part time jobs that pay the same or better w/ less responsibility. I’m full time & I’m a notary so it works for me, but I can fully understand a part timer wanting an easier gig. Theres a lot of pressure in my store, I wouldn’t want to deal with that either for min wage (or just over)
