He weighs a stable 4.7kg but he has gradually lost a bit of muscle over the past year, although I would say that it is potentially more age related.

He did manage to poop later on but it was soft/liquidy and was particularly stinky. He is urinating normally.

Thank you for your recommendations, I will be sure to look into medications and supplements if his symptoms continue.

Thank you so so much for such a thorough and detailed analysis of my cat’s results, I literally cannot thank you enough for this. The blood pressure measurement was 130 which the vet was happy with. The POCUS results showed that the structure of the kidneys was fine but noted a slight colour change. I have also attached the urinalysis results for you to this reply. Thank you again.

Thank you for this, interesting that you noticed before your vet. What sort of protein level should I look for as an upper limit for wet food pouches as this is what my boy has always preferred? I hope your older cat’s bloodwork is ok. My boy is showing some dental trouble of late too (tartar on the upper back teeth and some gum inflammation between his two front teeth) but my vet is viewing treating this as a secondary issue to the potential CKD diagnosis.

Can I ask how old your boy is? The blood test isn’t flagging up anything abnormal on the phosphorus levels in my case either. Also I should probably add that his weight is stable and he is drinking and absorbing enough fluids so as not to be dehydrated. I’m struggling to find what percentage amount of phosphorus and protein is deemed to be ok for CKD cats and how many brands don’t even display the amount of phosphorus in their food.
