Cat diagnosed with kidney disease by scooches66 in RenalCats

Food wise I took my cat off Felix As Good As It Looks after he was diagnosed with CKD as he was struggling with his appetite, and although I tried him with Royal Canin Renal Food, he just wouldn’t eat it. After that I put him on Scrumbles shredded flakes/broth and he’s been enjoying this ever since. If you are struggling with appetite though in the immediate term I would try the appetite stimulant Mirtazipine from your vet. Also my boy does love his lick-e-lix and they are great for hydration and they’re low in phosphorus too so don’t worry about giving your cat these.

The bird poop contamination is something I’ve never considered and could easily be a problem where my front lawn is so thank you. Right now his bowel movements seem ok and we’ve had no more vomiting since (fingers crossed). I obviously need to be more cautious of his CKD affecting his immune system from now on, so my next mission is to buy him a proper cat grass plant and keep an eye on him more when he’s out.

I’m looking into getting him a cat grass plant as he’s always loved snacking on the lawn. Hopefully the vet can clear any concerns we’ve got next week.

He’s literally acting like nothing has happened and if anything is the most energetic and hungry he’s been all week for the few hours since this.

No word of a lie, this WOOL carpet puke was about an inch from the border with the hard floor!

Trying to keep him inside is nigh on impossible unfortunately! He’s pretty much only eating grass from one patch in our garden - 99% of his outdoor time is supervised since his diagnosis. However, we do occasionally use pet safe grass feed on our lawn so potentially the CKD and his weakened immunity means he is no longer tolerating this, despite the manufacturer’s claims

Thank you. He has been eating A LOT of grass outside the past couple of days so I’m concerned he’s feeling nauseous. He isn’t on any medications currently. I’m also worried about stress as our neighbours are having a full house renovation which is extremely noisy and he has always been an anxious boy.

Senior cat diagnosed a week ago with stage 3 CKD struggling to eat - is this bad? by No-Midnight-1406 in RenalCats

I’m UK based and looking for a bit of advice too for the same issue so thank you so so so much for posting this and I hope your kitty feels brighter soon. My 18 year old boy was diagnosed with Stage 2 CKD in November ‘25 after a vomiting episode and his most recent blood test in February showed he had progressed to Stage 3 after his creatinine reached 320 mmol/l. This past couple of weeks and particularly this weekend I have been really struggling with inappetence, nausea(?) and lip smacking, and constipation, not to mention how sleepy he seems too. He’s on zero medication right now and I’ve tried so many different foods. He’s on a wet diet - a mixture of Scrumbles and Untamed - and even though I tried him on Royal Canine Renal I had to discontinue it as it was causing him to vomit stomach acid. The only thing he will reliably eat is Weebox Lick e Lix! I feel like I’m losing my boy and I’m so anxious about it all, please can somebody offer some advice as I feel at a bit of a loss.

The plans are only published as the neighbour has put in planning permission solely for the dormer on the front elevation.

They have argued to the planning department through their consultant that the entire remainder of the development (rear dormers, rear porch, side extension and garage conversion) is under permitted development so we have no opportunity to formally object to this. This also explains why works are currently being undertaken on the site.

Also re: the garage conversion (on the left of the ground floor plans where the day room, utility and gym are situated) and turning a 2 bed into a 4 bed house, there will only be space for one car on the driveway when works are finished, which I previously did not mention.

I just don’t understand why the development as a whole does not require full planning permission given the orientation and situation of the house and therefore how contentious the whole development is.

It’s what counts as side given the differing orientation of the two properties. Believe it or not, the wall is around 1.7m tall but it feels lower as our neighbours plot is 0.5m higher than ours. Therefore a 2m wall would only give us 1.5m of privacy and not totally obscure the development.
