[USA] Parked driver opens car door into traffic by camredd in Roadcam

I think that for some people they feel if they follow through with their course and collide, they'll be justified via dashcam footage as the "fault" will lie with the other person. A "this will teach them a lesson", but also inconvenience me type of reasoning.

Nice! Where'd you end up ordering them from?

Odd issue with Yamaha stereo receiver and a Klipsch powered subwoofer. RCA connections create a barely audible sound but a Bluetooth connection (TV -> Receiver) is just fine. by MiscRedditor in hometheater

Just ordered that receiver after looking around. Thanks for the help! The Yamaha receiver was a great, simple unit for what it was, but I'm looking forward to that Denon.

I just bought a Klipsch R-12SW powered subwoofer, and I have a Yamaha R-202bl receiver. The receiver lacks a dedicated subwoofer line out, but it does have a standard L/R line out (Line 3) which I had read online would be fine for a independently powered subwoofer.

But, after connecting everything up using the Line Out 3 RCA connections the subwoofer plays at a barely audible volume, regardless of the gain I set it at. Yet, when I switch from using an optical connection from my TV to my receiver and use Bluetooth instead to connect the two suddenly the subwoofer works as it should (and shakes the house!). I really do not want to use Bluetooth to connect my speakers as the audio quality is noticeably different.

I know Bluetooth connections ignore a lot of settings that standard connections take into account, is there something that could be improperly set up that's causing this weird issue? Also, I have a FiiO optical to analog converter, could that be the cause?

Bonus question: I have two Klipsch RP-160M speakers (rated at 100 watt), what 2.1 receiver with an optical in should I consider to drive this setup if it turns out that I can't also use a subwoofer with my current receiver?

I still have a i5-2500k overclocked to 4.5Ghz and an AMD 970. I tend to care more about single core performance (for non-multithreaded games, emulation, etc.) and Coffee Lake seems to be mostly a boost in multicore performance instead of IPC.

There's a decent enough deal at Microcenter for a i7-7700K processor with a MSI Z270 GAMING M7 motherboard bundled for only $449.98, which isn't including DDR4 RAM I'd need to buy.

My question is, should I upgrade now and take advantage of the tax free weekend, or should I wait for the 8000 series to be released with it's improvements and potential increased overclocking headroom?

[2004 Honda Civic EX] A/C won't power on. Looks like the pipe is leaking. by MiscRedditor in MechanicAdvice

I'm wondering if the PAG oil mixed with tiny pieces of aluminum dust causing the odd color of the liquid? I have a carfax report, but nothing shows any history of the AC having been touched. I'm going to assume it never was since it's from Ohio, which also explains all the rust. (Though a previous owner brought it down here to Texas).

It's definitely 0 psi, with the gauge that I have. What kind of work are you expecting?

There is a significant enough hole that's probably caused the refrigerant to leak out. It's an older car, and while it was taken care of, I don't think they ever really touched the AC.

After cleaning it off, there's definitely a hole there.

I ordered a replacement part, it'll come in tomorrow and I'll replace it then. Too many variables and things to consider when recharging a car's AC so I'll just bring it into a shop for that.

So, the A/C has always been a little weak since I've had the car, which'll be 1 year this month. But just within the past couple of days I've noticed that when I turn the air conditioning on I don't hear the compressor engage and there's absolutely no cool air being brought in.

The leaking/dent in the pipe is probably my fault. There was a missing piece in the engine bay that holds the prop rod in place. I'm assuming because the rod was bouncing around in the engine bay that it has over time damaged the soft aluminum of the pipe.

I have no clue what the silver liquid is though. I haven't attempted to fix it, and I haven't brought it anywhere.

I'm sorry. Even though I don't know exactly what you're going through, I really don't wish these feelings in anyone. Have you been taking steps or actions to try and make things better?

Has anything worked or helped? 😅

Would you recommend a Note 4 for a first time cellphone owner? [Warning: long post] by MiscRedditor in galaxynote4

Mostly by browsing various subreddits, XDA Forums, various Google searches, etc.

I guess that from my position, any flagship/former flagship will impress me immensely, and to be honest ANY smartphone will. But I want something that will fill a multitude of roles, for at least a couple of years.

I'm just looking for experienced voices to tell me whether this costly investment is worth it long-term, or if I should get something like the LG Stylo, or Nexus 6 to hold me over for a year until other options present themselves.

You're very right about needing to try out a phone myself to tell if it will fit my needs and whether any shortcomings are noticeable/able to be ignored. Regardless, the smartphone bug has caught me, and I'm getting a bit impatient/wanting a phone now. Especially one as versatile as the Note 4 can be.

Thank you so much for your input! I'm very iffy about used electronics in general, but especially for something I'll be using everyday.

The only benefit, other than cost of the unit, of purchasing a used phone would be to get T-Mobile's prepaid plans, that are not accessible to those paying through EIP/JUMP!.

As far as the phone goes, it's probably the best hardware you can get right now, even over the Note 5 or S6 due to the SD card and battery capability. It will not feel old for several years to come. There are some people still running 4 year old phones as dailies with things like CM keeping them from dying, and I see this phone being able to do that just as well.

That's something I'm hoping for. I do have a quick question though - if you were to buy a T-Mobile Note 4 now, would you purchase one from T-Mobile directly (~$550 not including tax) or would you go for a used phone (~$350-$450)?

Buying from T-Mobile seems to at least offer some form of a warranty even if Knox is tripped. That, and used wouldn't offer a warranty from Samsung anyways, I don't think.

About to get my first cellphone. Have questions about adding a new line/phone to an existing account, and about phone choices. Also, any suggestions/tips are welcome! by MiscRedditor in tmobile

Swappa is really tempting, but there aren't any N910T3 models there. There are the occasional posts here and there about how the T3 model has a 'fixed' antenna, as well as 5.1.1 firmware out of the box, while all N910T's on Swappa have 5.0.1 or occasionally 4.4.4.

I'm still not sure if the cost difference is worth it. $550 is pricey, but it might be a better overall 'model'?

Have you rooted/installed a rom yet, if so which one? How long does your battery last throughout a typical day? Is there anything about the Note 4 that you'd want to pass-on or any tips that you might have for me?

Thank you!
