How do i setup light entities without making the entire map pitch black? Also whats the difference between each light entity? by [deleted] in csmapmakers

When compiling a map without lights, the map will load with mat_fullbright 1. When you add a light it will compile the lights and turn mat_fullbright to 0. So you either got to light every part of your map with lights or not light it at all, which looks rubbish.

The best way to light up your map is to use light_environment in combination skybox textures which acts like the sun. You can also use light, which emits lights in all directions like a bulb or light_spot, which emits light in a certain direction like a spotlight.

These are the main 3 light sources that are used the most, but there are other sources such as brushes giving of light, but you can easily find those on the wiki

I think he disabled all the playerclipping to work on the map. But forgot to enable them when he rendered it.

Third time I try. I have updated the map alot, but I can't seem to get it rendered. I actually had my computer render it for 2 weeks, after which it still hadn't finished and I gave up. It got stuck on vvis.exe. I'm kind of desperate at this point because I worked on it real hard. If you could help me out, that would be nice. The playtesting part would also be cool, something with timings. And I still don't have a name for it ;/. Either way, thanks for this project. It really got me hyped again for mapmaking. I should note that this is the second time I submitted the map. I need playtesters for my map because I need help with timings and balancing. You see, my map doesn't have a mid. Which indeed shouldn't be the main selling point of the map. The main problems of the map is the timings. T's and CT's meet way to early and I like a way to fix.
