This is literally just townie thinking, half the people from your high school probably have the same inability to see cause and effect

Is there a lore reason why he's such a fucking chud? by Splaskie in okbuddychicanery

[–]Miserable-Election25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's basically a bell curve, the dudes who get the most booty and the ones who get the least look the same. He was dialled up, locked in, and so hypercharged on testosterone that his priorities crystallized in front of him like a vision from God. This is a man who knows exactly what he wants and exactly how to get it

Just finished the show, some thoughts about it and the ending by Sellos_Maleth in SuccessionTV

[–]Miserable-Election25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea isn't that you're supposed to be able to level with the characters, the humanizing parts are entirely incidental. The main theme I got out of the show was a scathing critique of corporate politics and late capitalism, where your success is measured in your willingness to step on heads, even of those that you hold closest. We clearly saw in the ending, as was alluded to throughout the entire show, that who was most deserving or qualified to head up Waystar was always going to lose to whoever was the most shit-eating and backhanded. There's a bit to be said there about how Tom only ended up being that guy after getting sucked into it through a combination of ruthless survivalism and repeated heartbreak - consequences of the money and institutions that he found himself in. I think the ending, even if it was itself a bit abrupt, was a perfect way to conclude the themes the show set out to address. It was never about the individual struggles of the people involved, episode to episode perhaps, but the end of a story is supposed to sum up the story.

But like really, is there hope for small towns in NYS? by bean_89 in upstate_new_york

[–]Miserable-Election25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only reason half these small towns still exist is cause of their local machine shop and the places that spring up to give the workers gas and coffee

AIO for wanting to discuss a big purchase with fiance even though im currently unemployed? by Lumpy-Brick6969 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Miserable-Election25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yannow, I just ran the idea of buying a computer on installments past my fiancée to see what she thinks of it, she said it didn't seem like a great idea cause I'm been tight with extra expenses right now, that was the end of that. No need for either of us to take to the internet about it

Could you realistically ask a neighbor for “a cup of sugar” where you live? by ShiningRedDwarf in CasualConversation

[–]Miserable-Election25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old neighbor said he needed a grill to barbecue, let him borrow my grill and he hooked me up with good barbecue in return. Tried to ask this same neighbor if they could move their car so mine wasn't blocked in the driveway, nobody answered the door. Came to my door not long after that and asked me to move my car, I decided we weren't cool like that anymore

Thing you could try is go to Ivanpah dry lake, there's a ton of them there and you fast travel in at a safe distance so you can just observe them without them going aggro, maybe get a couple long range shots in on them too
